Now THAT'S a holiday bonus: Special Christmas Eve lottery draw will make 25 millionaires

For many who tightened their belts this Christmas, the chance of winning a million pounds on Christmas Day might just prove too hard to resist.

The National Lottery plans to create 25 new UK millionaires this year in a Christmas Eve draw with a special EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle.

The draw is being held to celebrate the festive season, and organisers believe it will prove to be extremely popular, with 25 people across the UK being given the chance to celebrate the Christmas of their dreams.

National Lottery

Let's celebrate! Last month a syndicate of seven office workers in Wirral each banked £6.5 million. This Christmas Day the National Lottery are hoping to create 25 millionaires

The draw will smash the existing world record for the most millionaires in a single draw, when more than 18 lucky players came forward and received their giant cheques.

The National Lottery currently holds the record after Big Draw 2000 on New Year's Eve 1999.

A National Lottery spokesman said: 'Everyone will be excited about the Christmas Eve draw. It will be amazing to create 25 millionaires and hopefully smash the world record.

NUMBERS UP

Five lucky Lottery winners will share Saturday's draw.

They will split £4.7 million between them after their numbers come up.

Each ticket-holder won £956,813 by matching all six numbers in the main Lotto draw.

'A million pounds must surely be the ultimate Christmas gift and for 25 ticketholders across the country this is guaranteed to be the most amazing Christmas Day ever.'

There have been over 2,500 millionaires or multi-millionaires created by The National Lottery in the past 16 years, while the Millionaire Raffle guarantees the creation of an extra 52 millionaires every year.

EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle is a UK only game that is part of the EuroMillions ticket.

The National Lottery has raised more than £25 billion for good causes since it began.
