Arsenal jet off to Singapore for the Barclays Asia Trophy as Petr Cech prepares for first Gunners game

The Arsenal squad have flown out to Singapore with club sponsor and Dubai based airline Emirates, with Petr Cech linking up with many of his team-mates for the first time.

Cech, a summer signing from Chelsea, sat next to goalkeeping rival Wojciech Szczesny on the plane.

Arsenal will face a Singapore Select XI on Wednesday, with either Everton or Stoke City awaiting them next weekend.

Meanwhile Jack Wilshere looked happy to be back on the tour bus on Sunday, as he posted a picture of him alongside team-mates Wojciech Szczesny, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers en route to the airport as the squad made their way to Asia. 

Germany international Mesut Ozil expressed his delight at joining up with the squad once more in time for the tour, posting a picture of him alongside Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud with the message: 'Had a great weekend at home in London, looking forward to the start of the pre-season during our #asiatour!✈ #Emirates'.

The FA Cup holders were in good spirits as they boarded their private plane, as they prepare to put on a show for their Southeast Asian supporters before returning for the Emirates Cup.

It will be the first time that Arsenal have participated in the biannual Premier League Asia Trophy, which began in 2003, and the Gunners' travelling squad looked excited about the prospect of adding another trophy on board their 13-hour flight to Singapore.

Meanwhile Per Mertesacker appeared to be afforded extra leg room on the spacious Emirates plane.
