More drama on the cobbles as Gary Windass and Owen Armstrong come to blows in Coronation Street

Things are showing no signs of calming down in Coronation Street following the tram crash which caused such havoc on the soap earlier this month.

In the latest scenes, Gary Windass is seen launching himself at Owen Armstrong after he is accidentally locked in a van.

Former soldier Gary, played by Mikey North, clashes with the builder (Ian Puleston-Davies) when he finally gets out of the vehicle.

In scenes to be broadcast on Thursday, January 6, Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) and Eddie Windass (Steve Huison) are forced to intervene and break up the ruckus.

Meanwhile, hot-headed Owen orders Gary to stay away from his daughter Izzy.

Gary, who was injured in a roadside bomb attack in Afghanistan, has recently shown signs of post-traumatic stress disorder, triggered by the tram crash disaster.

Talking about his character's illness recently, North said: 'His recovery is going to be a slow process.

'He's really quite mentally ill now. It's heavy stuff and we'll follow him as he tries to cope with what he's going through.'

North also revealed he had spoken to soldiers about their own experiences in the field, adding: 'One guy told me that two years after he'd been in Afghanistan, a tyre blew in the street and he threw himself behind a wall. It triggered a flashback.

'Apparently that's quite common with post-traumatic stress disorder.'
