Battered and bruised after a 17 hour eurozone leaders summit, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras emerged having signed up to a brutal austerity agenda just one week after the Greek people voted unanimously in a referendum against being strangled further. The biggest concession will see Greece transfer €50billion in state assets to an independent fund, overseen by the European Commission and the European Central Bank.

MONEY NEWS & ADVICE
New Virgin Money cash Isa deals beat the best in market with rates of 2% on two-year fixed savings and 1.71% on one-year
Virgin Money has boosted the rates on two fixed-rate cash Isas which have seen the accounts catapulted to the summit of the independent This is Money savings tables. Its new two-year fixed-rate tax-free deal is now offering two per cent. Previously, this was the rate Virgin offered over three years.
Watch out for emoji: The high-tech text message hieroglyphics that can add more than £100 a year to mobile bills - and leave you feeling :-(
Some handsets turn text messages that contain an emoji symbol into a multi-media message, which can cost 40p to send. To add insult to injury, some phones will turn a combination of characters in a standard text message into an emoji automatically, meaning these high-tech hieroglyphics can add more than £100 a year to mobile bills for those simply using colons and brackets to add a smile or a frown to the end of their message.
TONY HETHERINGTON: RBS can't erase its disgrace over mishandled current account mortgage switch with paltry £350 offer
Some years ago, my husband met a Royal Bank of Scotland representative who assured him we needed an RBS current account mortgage. We duly switched to this in 2004, but it quickly became apparent it was not a good idea as our photographic business became a victim of digital photography. We constantly asked RBS to change our mortgage, but unsuccessfully. I told the bank manager we were in difficulties, but he answered that he could only do something once we went into arrears. We borrowed from the family and over the next few years we paid £74,000 in interest alone. Finally, in despair, I rang a different department at RBS. It immediately offered a better deal, based on the information the bank had held all along.
MIDAS SHARE TIPS: In tune for profits - from a 99p kazoo to costly pianos... Gear4music aims to turn up the volume
If you want to buy a book, your first destination would probably be Amazon or Waterstones. Many people wanting to buy bikes would think Halfords, Evans or perhaps specialist website Wiggle. But what if someone wants to buy a musical instrument? This is the gap in the market that pianist and horn player Andrew Wass believes he has spotted and plans to take advantage of with his company, Gear4music. Launched in 2003 in York, it recently floated on AIM and is looking to become an internationally recognised instrument retailer.
Retailers to receive unseasonal boost this week as Amazon prepares day of Prime time deals
Amazon has promised it will launch more offers than it did on Black Friday last year and experts say other retailers could benefit as customers flock to the internet to check out the price cuts. Amazon's Prime Day event has come at a time when retailers, many of which use Amazon to trade or to sell excess stock, face a lull in trade.
A toast to the coast! Holiday or all-year round, homes by the sea that do not cost a fortune
The height of summer inevitably leads many of us to daydream about a beautiful home on the coast with a classic sea view and the outdoor lifestyle that goes with it. That idyll is simply too expensive for most people these days - or is it? It can be surprisingly affordable to own a home by the sea, says Graham Norwood.
ASOS, Zoopla and Uber are three of 17 British businesses that have gone from nothing to a value exceeding £635m. But how can UK investors spot the next 'Unicorns'?
In stock market terminology, a 'unicorn' is a business that has been started from scratch and grown to a value of $1billion (£635million) or more while remaining privately owned, though some go on to list on the market. Because they can grow to high valuations with comparative ease, technology firms tend to dominate the list. Of the 40 or so known unicorns across Europe, the UK accounts for 17, according to figures crunched by the technology-focused investment bank GP Bullhound.

We're pleased with Britain's pay rise, purrs the bosses' 'Atomic Kitten': Forceful directors' leader delivers a mixed Budget verdict
She was dubbed the 'Atomic Kitten' by satirical magazine Private Eye, and while there is not much that is cuddly about the ambitious Barbara Judge, she is certainly forceful. s the new chairman at the Institute of Directors, her attitude to the Chancellor's Budget last week was less than fluffy, too. She considers the fallout for businesses and admits that, like most, she was surprised by George Osborne's rabbit-out-of-the-hat - the National Living Wage.
Wealthy City investors sue finance firm Ingenious over film investments
More than 100 investors, including Ken Costa, former chairman of investment bank Lazard, and Christian Hess of investment bank Investec, have issued a writ in the High Court against Ingenious and more than 50 associated companies. Among these are a group of financial intermediaries, including Royal Bank of Scotland-owned Coutts, which specialises in providing banking services for the very wealthy, HSBC Private Bank and Swiss investment bank UBS.

The dividend tax shake-up that affects small investors as well as fat cats: How the new rates work and 10 ways to cut your tax bill
All taxpayers will have a tax-free dividend allowance of £5,000 a year - which makes life better for many small investors seeking income from their shareholding. After this, the rate of tax payable on dividends will depend on taxable income. If your dividend income takes you from one income tax band into the next, you will then pay the higher dividend rate on that portion of income.

Extension heaven or planning free-for-all? Osborne tells London councils to let homeowners match neighbours with extra storeys and converted lofts
The plans outlined by the Treasury are part of a set of reforms aimed at relaxing planning rules in order to boost housebuilding and improve the UK chronic shortage of homes. These also include giving developers automatic permission to build on brownfields, fast-tracking major infrastructure projects and fines for councils that block or delay new homes among the others.
The Diary of a Private Investor: Why I sold an entire holding and bought back into an old favourite
I have raised a little cash in the last month, 5.7 per cent at month end, but confess to being reasonably sanguine about the Greek situation and its likely effect on the UK economy and equity market, writes our investing columnist. This saga has been going on for some time and it is difficult to see things getting much worse and in any case markets have had plenty of time to come to terms with the situation.
China stock crash has wiped nearly a third off the market's value: How much do UK investors in Asian funds need to worry?
Chinese markets have suffered days of chaos and draconian measures by the Communist authorities to put a floor under plunging stock prices. Calm was just about restored on the Shanghai market by last night - but only after 50 per cent of stocks were suspended from trading, while company bosses and major investors were banned from selling up for the next six months. The share rout has wiped nearly a third off the value of the market since mid June - so just what is going on and how worried should investors be about money stashed in Asian funds?
British drivers hiring cars abroad now have three-week code rather than three-day one in move hailed 'victory for common sense'
The paper part of the driving licence was scrapped last month and motorists now need to obtain a special online code to give to hire companies to check their penalty point records. However, the code only worked for a maximum of 72 hours. It meant those hiring a car in the second week of a foreign trip were forced to find internet access abroad or run up roaming charges by going online using a mobile phone.

When will interest rates rise? Deflation ends already but even an early 2016 rate rise remains 'touch and go'
Britain is out of its short-lived flirtation with deflation, with the consumer prices index up 0.1 per cent in the year to May, according to ONS figures. The news arrived the day before MPC minutes revealed another unanimous hold in June with the course still set for an initial base rate rise in the first half of 2016.
Best paid UK jobs 2014: Compare your pay to the national average in the league table of salaries across 350 trades and professions
The influence of financial services on the economy is spelled out again as City brokers steal top spot in this year's official list of highest earners. According to the detailed 2014 annual salaries survey, brokers pocketed around 40 times more this year than those at the bottom of the list - the people responsible for keeping children safe on the way to school. Lollipop crossing patrols earned around £3,400.
