The robot can even be connected to your smart devices at home and can adjust the lights or a thermostat via a voice command or a mobile app.

Perhaps most impressively, the robot can also act as a home security system and has the ability to watch over your humble abode while you’re away via an in-built camera.

If it senses anything sinister – like an increase in temperature as the result of a fire – it then sends an alert to the home owner.

The robot is also entirely mobile and has the ability to travel around and interact with its surroundings both on its own and via the control of its owner.

It is also distinctly human and is able to hear, speak, see and address someone with familiar facial expressions and head movements.

According to the developers, Buddy is also a playmate for children and provides parents with a level of respite by reading to youngsters, helping them with their homework and playing games with them.

Currently the robot is under construction and Blue Frog Robotics, who today uploaded the robot to international crowd-funding website Indiegogo, say it will not be available for purchase until November, 2016.

The company hope to raise $100,000 ($64,000) to continue their work on the robot and have 36 days in which to hit their target.

The final figure appears to be entirely manageable however as the robot has already raised over $50,000 (£32,000) in just one hour.
