Look away Nikki! Ian Somerhalder passionately kisses Chris Wood as they reenact famous Vampire Diaries scene at Comic-Con

It's a famous scene filled with passion.

And the cast of The CW's hit series The Vampire Diaries made sure to perform a hilarious reenactment as they appeared for a panel on Sunday at Comic-Con with a new video.

The clip features Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) and Chris Wood (Kai Parker) reenacting the most gushed about scene from season six - Damon and Elena's passionate kiss in the rain.

Buzzfeed has exclusive rights to the clip, which first shows the original scene from the show, fooling fans into thinking it's just a trip down memory lane.

But as Somerhalder's Damon pulls away, the lovely Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert) has been replaced by a prickly faced Chris Wood.

The two male leads breath heavy with passion as Wood pretends to have long locks, shaking them out of his eyes like Dobrev does in the actual clip.

'Promise me this is forever,' Wood says before looking straight into the camera, letting the viewers in on the joke.

'I promise,' responds Somerhalder as the two begin rubbing each other's faces and kissing again.

Aside from silly fan fiction, the cast actually addressed some serious issues on the show, like (SPOILERS BEWARE!) how they will continue on without Elena Gilbert's character.

After the impassioned kiss in the rain in season six, Elena's character found herself trapped in a 70-year vampire coma.

'She's just taking a little nap,' said Somerhalder, who wore a white blazer and a black tee. 'It's just an evolution of the story.'

'When a show has been on for [six] years, you need a shift in dynamic,' said Paul Wesley. 'I think it created a new world, and it's a fresh take on a show that's been on for several seasons.'

Wesley and Somerhalder were joined onstage by their co-stars Candice Accola, Kat Graham and Michael Malarkey along with the show creator Julie Plec.

Nina Dobrev was unfortunately absent due to her character's 70-year vampire coma situation.

Moving forward: 'When a show has been on for [six] years, you need a shift in dynamic, said Paul Wesley regarding Dobrev's hiatus from the show. 'I think it created a new world, and it's a fresh take on a show that's been on for several seasons'
