Emma Lavelle pondering next move for Crack Away Jack

By Sportsmail Reporter

Emma Lavelle has still to decide on a starting point for the returning Crack Away Jack.

The seven-year-old has been absent since last Christmas with a leg injury, but is on the verge of a comeback in either the Victor Chandler Chase at Ascot next weekend or the Game Spirit at Newbury on February 12.

'He's not far away now now. He's in the Victor Chandler at Ascot, but I'm just not sure about that yet,' said Lavelle.

'We've schooled him, he's been away and worked and he seems in really good nick and if he didn't go there he'd go to Newbury.

'He's almost there. He's knocking on the door of going to the races now.

'The only other option for him is a two-and-a-half-mile graduation chase at Kempton. I wouldn't be against running him in a small field, but if you are going to be competitive at Cheltenham, we've only got one run before now and then.

'While I know he will come on a lot for the run, I think you've got to find out if that's where you are going.'
