Nicky Hilton's flower girls wore gowns designed by Crown Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece (but they didn't cost quite as much as the bride's £50,000 dress)

When Nicky Hilton married James Rothschild on Friday, it united two of the world's richest families - with a lavish wedding to match.

But while the 31-year-old bride opted for a £50,000 couture creation by Valentino, MailOnline can reveal that the bridesmaids' dresses boasted an even more impressive pedigree.

The blue tulle dresses worn by the flower girls were designed by Crown Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece, who also attended the lavish nuptials with her husband Crown Prince Pavlos.

Marie-Chantal, 46, has run a children's clothing company named Marie-Chantal since 2001 and specialises in luxurious designs for youngsters aged between three and 12.

The gowns chosen by Nicky Hilton for her flower girls, among them Portia Umansky, daughter of actress Kyle Richards, are from the 'Princess' range - currently being sold in white silk for £250 on the Marie-Chantal website.

However, the heiress opted for a bespoke version of the maxi dress featuring 'layers of silver sparkle and powder blue tulle'.

The dresses were embellished at Nicky's request with shooting star patterns made using sequins and beads and were worn with handmade flower crowns - also provided by Marie-Chantal.

Each crown was made by hand from sparkling tulle and silk flowers and, like the dresses, were hand-embroidered and finished with delicate cotton-taffeta ribbons.

Photos given to MailOnline show some of the flower girls wearing the designs at the lavish wedding, which took place at Kensington Palace on Friday.

Something blue! Stun in Paris' chiffon bridesmaid dress by Alice + Olivia

Paris Hilton must be the first bridesmaid to ooze sex appeal in obligatory dress.

The hotel heiress stunned at her sister Nicky’s wedding in a blue chiffon wrap bridesmaid dress which was custom created for her by one of her favorite brands, Alice + Olivia.

Showing off her svelte midriff with its embellished cinched-in waist belt, Paris kept her flaxen locks in a flowing, curly style and posed with a sultry expression across her face.

Flattering her skin tone with its summertime perfect cornflower blue hue, the ruched chiffon gown couldn't have been a better choice for the London wedding and Paris did a great job of being a bridesmaid to her sister in her custom Valentino wedding dress.

Sadly, Paris' dress is not available to purchase online, but you can shop the look below from the likes of J. Crew and Monique Lhuillier in the edit below... particularly if you're a bridesmaid at a wedding this summer.

Guests at the nuptials included Conservative MP Zac Goldsmith, who is married to groom James Rothschild's younger sister Alice, and former 'First Daughter' Chelsea Clinton.

Also there to see the Hilton and Rothschild dynasties unite was Crown Princess Marie-Chantal, who attended with her husband Crown Prince Pavlos - the 48-year-old heir to the Greek throne.

Pavlos is the eldest son of King Constantine II, the last king of Greece who was deposed by a military junta in 1973 - a move later given democratic approval in a referendum.

Constantine was a cousin of the Duke of Edinburgh, born a prince of Greece and Denmark, and the Greek royals remain close to their British relations.

Most recently, Pavlos and Marie-Chantal joined the Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex on the Isle of Wight for Cowes Week.

The couple are also frequently seen at royal events, both in the UK and elsewhere, and attended the recent wedding of Sweden's Prince Carl-Philip in Stockholm.

The wedding of Miss Hilton and Mr Rothschild, although not royal, certainly had a location and budget to equal that of any aristocrat.

During the nuptials, which took place in the Palace's Orangery restaurant, guests were treated to a lavish meal followed by a party in a specially erected marquee outside.

The menu, a copy of which was obtained exclusively by MailOnline, was a mixture of British classics such as mini Cumberland sausages and mash, and American treats.

Cocktails were served in the lawn marquee ahead of supper, with options including the English Garden, made from gin, elderflower, lemon apple, mint, and the Pine and Dandy, with vodka, lime, ginger, pineapple and rosemary.

Canapés such as baked potatoes with caviar, and foie gras were served next, and followed 15 minutes of speeches from the groom and Richard Hilton, the father of the bride.

Main courses, which were served at 8.45pm, included crab and lobster Louis with tomato and horseradish, Hereford beef with a copper pot of petit pois 'a la Francais', rosemary roasted new potatoes and tied baby vegetables.

Also on offer was summer her risotto and roasted basil and pesto tart with mozzarella.

A pudding bar served 13 different dishes, including cheesecake, peach and raspberry trifles and Pimms jelly with strawberries, green apple foam and mint cress, and English classic desert rhubarb and custard; almond milk purée with rhubarb compote, champagne foam and a cinnamon beiget.

There was also mango compote with vanilla yoghurt cream, muscovado sugar and mango crisps.

But after the dinner, the menu crossed the Atlantic, with skinny fries in 'small silver pots' being served, beef sliders with American cheese and a spiced tomato relish, macaroni and cheese, and mini pizzas on offer to the elite guests.

There were also miniature key lime pies and 'Dominique Ansel' cookie shots with a Bailey's milkshake, from an artisan French baker based in New York.
