Lewis Hamilton keeps it casual in NYC as he brushes off THAT fashion fail which got him snubbed from Wimbledon

He was snubbed from Wimbledon for not adhering to its strict dress-code, last week.

But Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton seems to have taken that in his stride as he stepped out in New York City on Monday morning.

The acclaimed sportsman, 30, was sensationally defiant about his low-key look - which saw him miss the men's final - by flaunting an even more relaxed style while out-and-about in Manhattan.

The dapper dude was seen cutting a dash in the East Village, where he wore ripped jeans with a T-shirt and baseball jacket, plus a pair of sparkling white high-top trainers.

Naturally, he also wore an over-sized designer watch and pair of expensive-looking sunglasses to cap his urban style.

And, with a carefree smile, he certainly seemed to put his recent sartorial dramas behind him.

It comes just days after the Formula One driver was banned from the Royal Box for Sunday's Wimbledon final because he was not wearing a shirt and tie.

Hamilton was due to sit alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Anna Wintour to watch Novak Djokovic clinch his third Wimbledon title following a nail-biting final against Roger Federer.

But the driver was sent away by officials after turning up in a rather colourful ensemble, which included a bright floral shirt.

The 30-year-old, who was also wearing camel-coloured suede shoes and a hat, later posted a picture of himself on Instagram watching the men's final from a hospitality area inside centre court.

Earlier in the day, Hamilton had posted a photo showing his Royal Box invitation package, saying he was 'honoured' to have received it.

He wrote: 'On my way to Wimbledon to watch the final. Honoured to have been invited to watch the men's finals from the Royal Box.'

A Wimbledon spokesman said: 'If he was not adequately dressed you could infer that he would not have been let in, but we do not comment on our guests.'
