She's known for her androgynous look, and Ruby Rose has been likened to pop brat Justin Bieber many times - and even mistaken for the 21-year-old star.

But looks are not the only thing the Australian model-turned-actress has in common with Justin.

The 29-year-old showed off her heavily inked upper body and midriff when she stripped off to pose for an Instagram snap on Monday, echoing a shot posted by the male singer in the days before.

The picture displayed Ruby’s washboard abs but was quickly taken down by the star - just like Justin's shot was deleted after he posted it the week before. 

Ruby's shot shows the actress standing in full sun, holding a grey singlet across her shoulders for shade.

Wearing a pair of boyish long white shorts and a camouflage crop top, the glowing DJ accessorised her sporty attire with one of her signature snap back hats, a black watch and a gold chain over her chest.

Glancing casually at the ground with one leg propped slightly forward showing off her cool girl swagger, the star held the grey singlet she stripped off behind her head with her heavily inked arms.

On the other hand, Justin's cheeky holiday snap - posted on Instagram during his break in Bora Bora- revealed his bare bottom.

The Baby singer later removed the image from his account after receiving backlash from fans, apologising to anyone he may have offended with the 'pure hearted joke'.

'Deleted the photo of my butt on Instagram not because I thought it was bad but someone close to me's daughter follows me and she was embarrassed that she saw my butt,' he wrote.

As for Ruby, she is no stranger to baring all, having recently stripped off for a shower scene in Orange is the New Black,where she plays Litchfield prison inmate Stella Carlin. 

To prepare to strip off, the actress says she took Soul Cycle classes for a month. 

The scene shows her looking in the mirror, combing her hair and talking to Piper Chapman (played by Taylor Schilling) - all while totally nude.

Ruby has addressed the comparisons to Justin in the past, telling  Daily Mail Australia last year: ‘I was in Beverly Hills on Rodeo Drive wearing these Calvin Klein’s real high and jeans hanging low when I heard someone scream “Justin Bieber!”’

‘I was like “Please don’t be me” and sure enough these girls came running up and were like “Oh my gosh, we’re so sorry, we didn’t realise you were a girl.”’

Ruby also made an appearance on On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Thursday where she was asked about her comparison to troubled Justin.

But Australian star confessed that she believes she has got an edge over the controversial singer because she has more tattoos than him.

‘Yeah, so I’m far more hard core…!’ she told the radio host.
