Prince William starts job as helicopter pilot with glamorous flying doctor

Cheshire-born brunette Dr Gemma Mullen (right), who bears a striking resemblance to the Duchess of Cambridge, will fly rescue missions with Prince William. Both 33, they will make a formidable team. The Duke (pictured on his first day back on the job yesterday) was formerly an RAF search and rescue pilot, while Dr Mullen is an experienced medic who previously flew on the London Air Ambulance. Starting work at 7am sharp at Cambridge Airport yesterday, William confessed: 'It's my first day and I'm feeling the nerves.' But he added that he was 'fantastically excited' and looking forward to working with a 'very professional bunch of guys and girls'. The prince, who is known as Captain William Wales in his role as an air ambulance pilot, is paid a salary for the job, all of which is donated to charity.

British taxpayers face £1BILLION bill for Greek bailout: UK could be forced to aid rescue after EU Commissioner tears up 'black and white' agreement

British taxpayers will be liable for £1BILLION of emergency loans to Greece

Sources close to Jean-Claude Juncker (pictured bottom right), the arch-federalist European Commission president, say he wants the UK to release the funds as part of emergency loans to Greece. But this would break an agreement made by David Cameron in 2010 that Britain would not have to pay, because it is not a member of the eurozone. Commission officials say this deal was nothing more than a 'political' accord with no legal force. It came as Alexis Tsipras was said to have been 'crucified' by European leaders in marathon late-night bailout talks in which he was forced to accept severe austerity measures and hand even more control to creditors as the price of remaining in the euro. There was anger in Greece at the capitulation. Last night demonstrators burned the flag of his party, Syriza, on the streets of Athens (main).

Dozens of police officers worked together (left) to lift a car off a seriously injured 16-year-old girl. She was hit as the vehicle reversed into the crowd after violence flared following an Orange Order parade in Belfast. At least eight Northern Irish police officers were injured when they were pelted by bottles, beer cans, bricks and other missiles, as Protestant loyalists reacted angrily when a cordon was erected to stop the annual parade from passing a Catholic estate. The 16-year-old girl (top right) has been taken to hospital, but the extent of her injuries are unknown. Officers said the driver of the vehicle has been arrested and an investigation is underway after the girl was hit outside shops in Ardoyne.

Is Lewis Hamilton the WORST dressed man in Britain? How the Formula One champion's idea of a snappy outfit ranges from the adventurous to the downright bewildering

Is Lewis Hamilton the worst dressed man in Britain?

The Formula One champion's appearance at the Wimbledon men's final on Sunday (second from left) confirmed what some of us have long suspected: when it comes to his wardrobe, he's totally lost the plot. From a garish £349 Oliver Spencer jacket (far left) to his £1,265 Marni suit (far right) - somewhere along the line, his head was turned by fashion and he has become ridiculous. You only have to remember photos of preening footballer Cristiano Ronaldo splayed across buses in his Armani pants to know that the path from inspirational sporting hero to international laughing stock is very short indeed.

A beauty queen wife, a $2.5m escape plot and a LOT of experience of tunnelling: The secrets of Mexican drugs kingpin El Chapo... and why the violent Public Enemy No1 may never be found

Mexican drugs kingpin El Chapo's secrets and why he may never be found

As darkness fell over Mexico's most secure prison on Saturday night, the country's most powerful drug lord, Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman (left), executed an ingenious escape plot which has prompted one of the biggest manhunts in history. In a scheme more befitting a caper movie, the cunning criminal mastermind crept into a small opening in his private shower in Altiplano prison, before fleeing through a one-mile tunnel (pictured middle bottom), which officials believe had been covertly and audaciously burrowed for months on end. It is the second time in 14 years that the drug kingpin has embarrassed authorities through his expert escape. But his almost legendary escapes are perhaps unsurprising when one looks at Guzman's lucrative and professionally-run life of crime, which has included brutal turf wars against other cartels, resulting in the death of tens of thousands of people (top middle). Experts have now predicted that Guzman, who successfully crafted a Robin Hood image while rising to the top of his cartel in his northwestern state of Sinaloa, might never be found again. His stunning wife Emma Coronel, a U.S citizen, is not under suspicion, police say.

Who is 'El Pastor'? Family who live next to end of El Chapo's escape tunnel tell of mysterious neighbour who moved in six months ago... and did a LOT of building work

Lorenzo Esquivel and Maria Esther Salgado, who live a mile from the Altiplano jail from where Joaquin Guzman fled, told how the man moved into the grey building at the start of this year.

Catch me if you can: El Chapo's son releases photos that he claims show billion-dollar drug lord enjoying a beer and plane ride after his audacious escape from jail

'El Chapo' mocks authorities with photos of himself FLYING in a plane

Photographs have emerged of billionaire drug-lord 'El Chapo' appearing to taunt authorities with his new-found freedom by drinking beer in public and flying inside an airplane. Sent to a blog which monitors the on-going drug war in Mexico by one of Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman's sons, the pictures were allegedly taken after his audacious escape just two days ago. If verified, the pictures would be the first of the notorious cartel leader to surface since he made his jail prison on Saturday morning from Altiplano jail and follow Twitter threats to presidential candidate Donald Trump warning him to stop his anti-Mexico rhetoric.

Vindicated 'Gone Girl' US kidnap victim and her boyfriend appear holding hands to hit out at police who dismissed them as liars, as it's found she WAS snatched (by a Harvard academic using a water pistol)

'Gone girl' abductee Denise Huskins and boyfriend Aaron Quinn hold press conference

The FBI has made an arrest in a bizarre kidnapping that took place earlier this year in California. Denise Huskins (pictured right) was taken from her home in Vallejo on March 23 after claiming a group of individuals entered the house and tied up her boyfriend. She was then set free just a few hours later in the town she grew up in, leading many to speculate that the entire incident had been staged much like the popular novel and film Gone Girl (inset). That all changed however on June 8 when the FBI arrested Matthew Muller (left), and have now charged him with kidnapping Huskins. Huskins and her boyfriend Aaron Quinn are still dating despite the ordeal and put on a united front to criticize the police for dismissing them at a press conference on Monday night (pictured center).

The research team of the Yamagata University Institute of Nasca discovered 24 new geoglyphs in the Nasca Region of the Peruvian South Coast during the survey conducted between December 2014 and February 2015.

The geoglyphs are almost invisible on the surface and the team needed to analyze them using a three-dimensional scanner to highlight the images on the ground. But as she turned left down a narrow side street onto Bloomsbury Square she suffered a 'momentary lapse of concentration' and was killed instantly when she was pulled under the wheels of the lorry as it also turned left.
Miss Baldassa had worked for Westwood in Milan and the grey trousers and coat she was wearing are believed to be given to her by Westwood personally as a leaving present.
