The rain came and so did the goals as Liverpool stepped up their pre-season preparations with a victory in a monsoon in Thailand.
Though the game against the Thai All Stars was given the rather grand title of the 'True Super Trophy', this was never going to be anything other than a training exercise for Brendan Rodgers' side and the tempo was a world away from the frenzy of the Barclays Premier League.
But, that said, the game still held importance for the Liverpool manager, with five new signings to bed in, and he would have been content after strikes from Lazar Markovic, Mamadou Sakho, Adam Lallana and Divock Origi secured a comfortable 4-0 win.

Rodgers said beforehand that, with only nine days training under their belts and the effects of a 14-hour flight still being felt, it was important Liverpool 'managed the conditions' and his caution was understandable, given the stifling, sweltering humidity in Bangkok.
A number of his players, however, did not want to ease themselves back in and Markovic, in particular, caught the eye.
After a disappointing first year in England, when he rarely looked like a £20million signing, the Serbia winger had a point to prove.
Markovic had Liverpool's first opportunity after two minutes, his shot from six yards being turned away after a cross from Andre Wisdom and forcing a corner but the 21-year-old did not have to wait long for an opportunity to break the deadlock.
In the next attack Joao Teixeira, the promising young Portugal midfielder, slipped a ball into Markovic's path and he did the rest, waltzing around Thai goalkeeper Warut Makemusik before rolling his finish into an empty net.
Thailand's players wanted to make a mark and they came close to scoring a goal in the 20th minute when Jakkapan Pornsai fizzed a free-kick over Adam Bogdan's bar but that was the only moment of alarm for a goalkeeper who has recently arrived from Bolton on a Bosman deal.

Either side of that moment, Liverpool pressed forward, with Danny Ings and Ricky Lambert playing as a front two and the midfield diamond of Markovic, Teixiera, Lucas Leiva and Jordan Rossiter keep hold of the ball comfortably.
Rossiter came close to doubling Liverpool's advantage with a bullet header from Lambert's cross, Ings couldn't get on the end of a Lambert cross and then the England Under-21 striker saw his first Liverpool 'goal' chalked off by a linesman after some jostling in the area.
Before half-time, though, Liverpool had their second goal and Sakho was the scorer, the Frenchman rising powerful to head in Teixeira's pinpoint corner. There was little riding on the game but Sakho, judging by his celebrations, enjoyed the moment.
The interval arrived and it prompted Rodgers to play a new XI, with James Milner, Nathaniel Clyne and Origi all getting their debuts, but the 15-minute break also saw torrential rain arrive, soaking everyone inside a stadium that was 95 per cent open.
So heavy was the downpour, those who had been sitting in the lowest tier of the ground had no option but to scurry for sanctuary.

Given the poor nature of the pitch – it had been cutting up easily during training yesterday – Rodgers was eager for Liverpool to look after themselves and once Lallana thrashed in the third goal from Jordan Henderson's incredible rabona pass in the 52nd minute, there was no need to over exert themselves.
Still, they kept looking for more goals. Origi – who signed for Liverpool last year but spent the subsequent 12 months on loan at Lille – squandered one clear chance but he atoned before the final whistle, rising highest to get his head to a corner from Henderson.
It was a simple job professionally and done. As Liverpool now head on to Australia, Malaysia and Finland before the new campaign begins at Stoke, Rodgers – who welcomes new assistant coach Gary McAllister to his backroom team in Brisbane – will hope things continue to run smoothly.
