As President Obama's upcoming visit to his father's homeland, Kenya, is nearing, his half-brother is still waiting to be told by Obama about his trip later this month.

'From what I hear, he is coming now as the president of the United States,' said 57-year-old Malik Abon'go Obama during an interview at his home in Kogelo, Bloomberg reported.

While his itinerary has been kept secret and the Kenyan presidency has denied that Obama will travel to Kogelo during his July 24 visit, 193 miles northwest of Nairobi, rumors have been sparked that he will make a trip there.

During Obama's first time traveling to the home of his father, Barrack Hussein Obama Sr, it was 1988 and two decades before he became U.S. president, according to Bloomberg.

He made the trip as Malik Obama fulfilled a promise to their father to bring his half-brother to Kogelo in western Kenya. It was then that Obama met his step-grandmother Sarah Obama as well as other relatives.

Malik Obama, who was best man at Obama's wedding, said during that trip, he and his half-brother searched for illicit alcohol called chang'aa in the bush and played games together.

Now he longs for the times when he and his sibling were closer and hopes they have some time to spend together during his visit to Kenya later this month. He claims he has not been invited to his half-brother's family home in the U.S, according to Bloomberg.

'I would like for us to just sit down and have a vanilla ice cream or a strawberry fruit cake, just to have a nice dinner, nice steak, Caesar salad, sit down and enjoy each other,' Malik Obama said.

'I really don't know my nieces, Malia and Sasha and they don't know my children either.'

During Obama's first visit to Africa as president in 2013, he did not travel to Kenya, but to Senegal, Tanzania and South Africa, which local newspapers dubbed as a snub.

Obama's 94-year-old step-grandmother, who lives opposite Malik Obama, said that his with his trip this month, Obama is coming to see the people of Kenya, not her, Bloomberg reported.

'Obama is coming as guest of the state and to see people of Kenya, not me,' she said.

Ahead of his trip to Nairobi, the capital is receiving a makeover costing $500,000 which includes planting flowers, cutting grass on major roads and near government buildings and clearing drainage and bushes, International Business Times reported.
