Kate Hudson proved she has an adventurous side as she joined Bear Grylls to kick off the second season of his hit show Running Wild.

The Hollywood star was happy to ditch her life of luxury for a few days in the wild as she joined the British star on a two day hike in the Italian Dolomites.

Kate was tested to her limits as they carried out tasks in the rocky mountain range close to the country’s border with Austria.

The 36-year-old was forced to get involved in an ant-tasting session and then cooking a pigeon.

Judging by her facial expressions, it was a far cry from the five star meals she normally indulges in as she said: ‘Urgh, that’s disgusting’.

Kate, can also be seen confronting her fears when she rappels down the side of a mountain with adventurer.

Wearing climbing equipment and a backpack, the blonde star first had to rapel out of a tramway car half way up the mountain before trekking through tunnels to get through the mountain.

She had to camp outside with Grylls and opened up to the former soldier, talking about her career and family and revealing she is open to getting married again.

She admitted that she sees Kurt Russell as her dad and has no contact with real dad Bill Hudson.

The A-lister also made Grylls try some meditation before they hiked back down the mountain where an ATV vehicle was waiting for them.

Kate is only one of many celebrities on the second season of the adventurous reality show as Kate Winslet, Drew Brees, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ed Helms, Michelle Rodriguez, James Marsden and Michael B. Jordan will also appear in later episodes.

Kate's been in New York City promoting her new episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls over the past few days.

Meanwhile, Kate has recently been spending time with her rumoured beau Derek Hough, 30.

The pair have been spotted together a few times in New York City the past week.

The celebrity duo were first linked in December after being spotted making out at West Hollywood hot spot, The Nice Guy.
