But by Monday evening, Hilary Duff had utterly transformed as she turned heads in a thigh-skimming bright yellow minidress for a dinner date at Sugarfish restaurant in Beverly Hills.

The 27-year-old singer put on a leggy display in her cheery outfit as she arrived at the upmarket sushi bar for an evening meal.

The former child star's loose-fitting frock was both a fun and flattering choice as she stepped out in the balmy Los Angeles heat.

Hilary ditched the heels for the occasion, opting for a comfortable but stylish pair of ruby red lace-up sandals as she wandered inside the eatery.

Wearing her golden mane tousled, the mother-of-one completed her evening look with natural make-up to complement her pretty features.

And while the smiling blonde was clearly pleased with her wardrobe choice for her evening out, Hilary couldn't help but gush about one item in particular.

Proving that even A-listers are just as susceptible to a flash of retail fever, Hilary revealed her Dorothy-esque shoes were actually a recent purchase - and one that the actress was clearly happy about.

Taking to her Instagram page, the All About You songstress snapped a photo of the latest addition to her wardrobe, writing: 'A little Sunday treat yo self #newshoes' (sic)

Hilary took an extended career break when she tied the knot with ice hockey player Mike Comrie and became a mother to their three-year-old son Luca, but the actress filed for divorce in February after five years.

Focusing on her career, the star made her musical comeback last year with her album, Breathe In Breathe Out.

She's also returned to acting in force, with a feature role in the TV series, Younger, while she will return to the big screen in Path Of Redemption.

The film - due in September 2016 - also stars Danny Trejo, and pits a young man against the gang who raised him after murdering his parents.
