'We're making a terrible mistake': The Affair season two trailer sees Noah face the fallout from his romance with Alison... and charges for murder

In its first season, The Affair showed how drama could be heightened when more than one side to the story was considered.

That will go on in season two, when four different points of view will tell the tale of an affair between two married adults.

Those adults - played by Dominic West and Ruth Wilson - will continue their heart-breaking romance with ever-increasing conflict and sexiness.

'What's the worst thing you've ever done?' asked a shadowed Alison Bailey (played by Ruth) to her lover, Noah Solloway (Dominic).

'This, probably,' Noah admitted, making it clear that his guilt over betraying wife Helen (Maura Tierney) has not yet dissipated.

Alison appeared to be feeling even more regret about giving up her marriage to be with Noah, and told him: 'I think we're making a terrible mistake.'

Helen's anger - along with that of Alison's husband, Cole Lockhart (Joshua Jackson) - will feature even more strongly in the second season.

We catch a glimpse of Noah telling his young son about their impending divorce, while Cole tracks down Alison only to find out that she doesn't want to see him.

The betrayed spouses' points of view will share screen time with those of Alison and Noah when the show returns, proving the tag line: 'There are more than two sides to every story.'

Whatever guilt remains, Noah and Alison did not waste their time with moaning in the trailer's footage.

Instead, both of them took advantage of a swimming pool and spending time in bed.

Even their sex scenes, however, were tinged with the darker emotions that make up the story of The Affair.

Noah and the rest also have to deal with the fall-out from the murder of Cole's brother, Scott (Colin Donnell) - a crime for which Noah became the prime suspect.

But Noah insists: 'I didn't kill Scott Lockhart.'

One scene in the video showed him in court, while a voiceover insisted that they needed to learn the truth about who ran down and killed Scotty.
