Just a few weeks ago they were at the centre of romance rumours.

But on Monday evening Lewis Hamilton had to make do with being the third wheel as he found himself at the same event as close pal Gigi Hadid, who arrived with her new boyfriend Joe Jonas.

The trio were at Tijuana Picnic to toast the start of New York Men's Fashion Week, and it seems despite the flurry of rumours about Lewis and Gigi, everyone got on famously.

Lewis, 30, looked delighted to see the stunning Gigi at the fashion bash, giving the blonde a huge, lingering hug.

The Formula 1 ace showed off his unique sense of style, hitting the party in a floral print jacket paired with ripped jeans and white sneakers.

Gigi meanwhile was looking smart in a navy and black striped jacket and skinny trousers.

The model showed some skin with a black crop top layered under her jacket, and finished off her look by tying her long blonde hair back.

Gigi has struck up a firm friendship with Brit sportsman Lewis over the summer, with the US star cheering him on at the Monaco Grand Prix in May.

Along with her close friend Kendall Jenner, the model, fresh from her split from Cody Simpson, put on a cosy display with the racing driver in Monaco, as he placed his arms tenderly around her.

In a further display of affection, Gigi, 20, posted a snap of her with Nicole Scherzinger's ex to Instagram, in which she accompanied the image with a gushing message.

In the same week as the Monaco Grand Prix, the pair were pictured enjoying one another's company again at the Cinema Against AIDS gala for amfAR, as one source claimed: 'They’ve been on a couple of dates. It’s on!’

Just a couple of weeks later though and Gigi was spotted on a string of dates with Joe Jonas as rumours of their romance heated up.

Lewis even joined the hot new couple on a 'double date' with Kendall in London at the end of June as the group partied together at the capital's Wireless festival.

The Brit racing driver has also been linked to top model Kendall, but any signs of a romance have yet to materialise.

Lewis doesn't seem to be able to get his former flame of seven years, Nicole Scherzinger off his mind, as he took to Instagram last month to wish the stunning star a happy birthing in a gushing post, telling her:

'Through the years we shared alot, i wouldn't have changed a thing. All the experiences made me the man i'm proud to be right now.

'The Memories together will never be taken away no matter how old we get and I'm thankful for the time we had.
