Their break-up is still relatively recent after they called it a day in March following four years together.

So Louis Tomlinson's ex-girlfriend Eleanor Calder could certainly be forgiven for feeling upset by the shock news he is reportedly set to become a father.

However, the One Direction singer apparently told her personally before the news was made public on Tuesday.

A friend told People: 'Eleanor knows and she's fine.'

The Manchester University graduate, who turns 23 on Thursday, is coincidentally holidaying in Los Angeles - the same place where stylist Briana Jungwirth, the mother of Louis's unborn child, lives.

Blogger Eleanor has been Stateside for the past week and was having early birthday celebrations with her pal Megan Murphy at the Andaz West Hollywood rooftop bar on Tuesday.

Over the weekend, she enjoyed a road trip to Vegas with Megan, according to images posted on their respective Instagram pages.

However, since news of Louis's impending fatherhood broke, Eleanor has been noticeably silent on her Twitter and Instagram accounts, which have several million followers each.

Louis and Briana, both 23, are set to become parents early in the new year following a brief romance in May.

At the time, the pair were spotted on a series of nightclub dates in Los Angeles.

It is believed Briana is around 11 weeks pregnant and Louis has accompanied her to medical visits regarding the baby.

A friend told People while the pop star and pretty blonde weren't in a relationship, they remained close friends.

Louis is said to be house-hunting for a place near Briana's Calabasas home so he can be a 'hands-on father' once their child is born.

'Louis is happy and very excited about becoming a dad and he thinks Briana will be an amazing mother. It was a surprise at first, but he and Briana are very, very close friends and this has brought them even closer,' the source has told People.

'They are both really happy and although they aren't in a relationship, their friendship is extremely strong and they are both really excited about the baby. It's early days and Briana and the baby's health are the most important things right now,' adds the friend.

A representative for Louis had 'no comment' on the report when contacted by MailOnline.

The star is due to join his One Direction bandmates - Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Niall Horan - on stage on Wednesday night as the group's On The Road Again world tour hits Seattle.

The Brit singer's mother Johannah Deakin and stepfather Dan have also reportedly met Briana's parents, with an insider claiming the two families enjoyed a July 4 weekend together.

His split with Eleanor was only made public when he was pictured kissing brunette student Lucy Julian, 20, while on holiday in Thailand in March.

At the time, his rep said: ‘Louis and Eleanor split up two weeks ago. They have not announced this as they wanted some privacy during this time.’
