But they insist they are now very much in love and thrilled to welcome their first child together.

The pair reconnected over the summer when Stein visited Mitchell and sparks flew once again.

Stein admits she cried when she told Mitchell she was pregnant, but was relieved to discover he was 'super-supportive' of her and the baby.

'He was happy and told me everything would be okay and that it was a new chapter in our relationship,' Stein told the magazine.

And despite their past difficulties, Stein and Mitchell said they are very much in love and looking forward to the future.

'I was living in Jacksonville and she called me crying,' Mitchell told Us Weekly.

'She came to see me and we decided to try to rekindle our relationship, which was going well,' said Mitchell. 'Then we were excited to find out we were pregnant and everything's been perfect since.'

They have decided not to find out keep the sex of the baby, who is due in early winter.
