Robin Thicke was putting on a brave face as he emerged from a dental office in Encino, California on Monday.

The 38-year-old singer appeared upbeat as he smiled to reveal what appears to be a gap in his top row of teeth.

The Blurred Lines singer apparently had a tooth missing in the front left hand side of his mouth.

The hit maker was clad in his trademark black t-shirt and jeans.

After losing a costly court case over Blurred Lines with Marvin Gaye's family, plus a recent divorce settlement - he might be considering putting his missing tooth under his pillow and hoping for a lucrative visit from the tooth fairy.

However, his dentist visit comes the same day as a judge in Los Angeles trimmed a copyright infringement verdict against the singer and Pharrell Williams by $2 million.

The latest ruling reduced the payment from nearly $7.4 million to $5.3 million to three of Gaye's children, after a jury determined the pair had copied elements of the 1977 hit Got to Give It Up for Blurred Lines.

It also gives Marvin Gaye's family an ongoing shared of royalties from Blurred Lines - which was the biggest song of 2013.

He divorced childhood sweetheart Paula Patton, 39, in March after over 20 years together and is now dating 20-year-old model April Love Geary.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Robin admitted he'd taken his eye off the ball following the split, telling them: 'What I can say - is that when I did the deposition, it was two weeks after my separation from my wife. I was going through personal hell at the time.

'I was careless in the deposition,' Robin added of the March 2015 courtroom loss.

He told the Times: 'My personal issues were all that mattered to me at the time. That's why I use the word careless to describe my attitude.'

'Obviously, I didn't give my all to the trial. It simply wasn't as important to me as what was going on in my personal life. I was lost at the time. I had lost my way.'
