Welcome to Iceworld: Stunning first hi-def image of Pluto reveals huge 11,000 foot mountains made of water-ice and a geologically active surface

First Pluto pictures in hi-def by Nasa reveals foot mountains made of water ice

A historic image of Pluto, with 10 times the resolution of anything ever seen before, has been unveiled by Nasa, after the New Horizons probe made a successful flyby of the dwarf planet yesterday. The image shows mountains that likely formed no more than 100 million years ago - mere youngsters relative to the 4.56-billion-year age of the solar system - and may still be in the process of building. That suggests the close-up region, shown in related to Pluto circled on the right covering less than one percent of Pluto's surface, may still be geologically active today, and experts believe it could still have geysers and even volcanic activity.

Bird strike! Dramatic three-way fight between a bald eagle and two gulls is caught on camera (but there was only one winner)

Photo shows fight between massivebald eagle and two gulls in Alaska

Two gulls were photographed in a dramatic mid-air confrontation with a bald eagle. The fight between the three birds took place over Alaska's Prince William Sound and was caught by a photographer kayaking, the U.S. Department of the Interior has said. The eagle was snapped soaring through the air with its feet holding one gull, which had its beak around the eagle's talon. A second seagull flew above, and nipped at the eagle's feathers. The federal agency said the eagle won the fight, and wrote on Facebook: 'The gull above the eagle gave up and the other one wasn't able to free itself.'

Ethel Rosenberg's brother's testimony reveals she may have been wrongly convicted

Grand Jury testimony (center) of the brother of Ethel Rosenberg (right), David Greenglass (left), released on Wednesday, may indicate Ethel Rosenberg was wrongly executed for espionage in 1953. If that's so, and it appears to be, that is a tragic commentary on the 1950s-era Justice Department.'

Stepfather of the bride kept alive for 40 minutes by a cardiologist cousin performing CPR after suffering a heart attack at the wedding

After dinner at the wedding reception, they were outside visiting with family when they heard someone scream for ?Help.?

Matt rushed inside to find the bride?s stepfather, David Lawson, lying on the floor, already turning blue. Assuming he might be choking, Matt performed two Heimlich maneuvers. But when he heard air coming out of Lawson?s mouth, Matt knew he wasn?t choking. It was probably related to his heart.

?Get Katy,? he ordered, as he felt for a pulse and found none. His wife, now a family doctor in Charlotte, arrived quickly and began performing chest compressions.

Matt ran to get the AED. Today, he sells medical equipment and has used defibrillators many times, but never an automated one. He followed his instincts, first placing sticky pads on Lawson?s chest. That connected him to the AED and allowed the machine to analyze his heart rhythm.
