Maria Menounos 'will replace Giuliana Rancic as anchor of E! News after network pushed her out because they tired of her controversies'

  • Giuliana announced she was quitting E! News on her own accord
  • The 40-year-old star said she wanted to spend more time with her husband
  • Maria, 37, has been working the carpet for E! since she left Extra in 2014

Giuliana Rancic's last day as anchor of E! News is on August 10.

And Us Weekly reported on Wednesday that the network has already found a replacement for the 40-year-old blonde.

The svelte star will have her shoes filled by reported frenemy Maria Menounos, 37.

'They were over her,' an unnamed source told the magazine of Giuliana. 'She received so much negative press about her weight, and then the Fashion Police debacle with Zendaya.'

Still, E! insisted in an official statement that any animosity between the network and Giuliana - who began hosting E! News in 2005 - was 'entirely inaccurate.'

A few months before Giuliana's announcement, she was accused of making a racist comment about Zendaya Coleman's hair at the Oscars.

Work a whimsical gown like Giuliana

She’s one of the main panelists on E!’s Fashion Police, so it's no wonder that sartorial sirens went off when Giuliana Rancic stepped onto the Golden Globes red carpet in a wondrous white gown.

As a fashionista at the zenith of her style savviness, Giuliana isn’t one to wear predictable labels like the rest of the Hollywood elite. Wearing little-known Indonesian designer Peggy Hartanto’s pastel floor-grazing creation, Giuliana enhanced her famously svelte physique without looking over the top for her evening of gown commentating. It’s all work and little play for Ms Rancic tonight!

Proving she’s ahead of the pack in Hartanto’s signature clean, innovative aesthetic with a sleek fabric construction of lace paneling at the neckline, Giuliana oozed futuristic fabulousness in the spot-on number. It’s not hard to see why she’s a fashion darling!

Sadly, Giuliana's dress was custom made especially for her to-die-for figure, but do not despair, because we've selected our favourite sweetheart trumpet dresses from across the web (below) for you to choose from.

Giuliana had said that Zendaya's hair looked as though it 'smelt of patchouli oil or weed' on the Oscars special episode, prompting Fashion Police co-host Kelly Osbourne to quit the show.

Following the joke, Zendaya said that the comments were 'not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive.'

She only accepted Giuliana's apology after the TV personality reached out via Twitter and on-the-air.

As for Maria, another source quoted by Us Weekly insisted that there had been friction between the two stars over the past year:

'From day one, Giuliana took all the plum assignments. She tried to have Maria banished.'

Maria had left a high-profile job as the host of Extra in order to take a new position at E! in 2014 - she has co-hosted Live From E! since then.

Giuliana announced she would be leaving the anchor position at E! News on Friday, with her final appearance coming in August.

'I am excited to not only continue as host of two major franchises on E! but also executive produce the aspirational new show Rich In Faith for Oxygen as well as take my wine and clothing lines to the next level,' the TV personality said in her official statement.

'This is such a thrilling time for me and I thank the gang at E! for understanding my desire to embark on this next chapter in my life.'

She added that her family - consisting of husband Bill Rancic and the couple's two-year-old son, Duke, would be moving full-time to Chicago.

Hosting gigs on Fashion Police and Live From The Red Carpet will continue for Giuliana on the E! Network.
