Peter Andre has denied lying to a court over his response to false claims on Twitter that he paid for sex and ordered for prostitutes to be flown to Australia.

Papers lodged at the High Court in London claim that the singer was subjected to the fake and 'very serious allegations of sexual misconduct' made by a mystery tweeter.

In a witness statement, he revealed he also felt under attack after a producer on his own show apparently publicly backed the tweets.

But after Mr Andre took the stand at the High Court today, his former producer's lawyer accused him of lying over what he said about the tweets.

The claims were aired during a High Court hearing in which producer Neville Hendricks is suing ITV2 for allegedly breaking a contract for him to produce reality shows featuring Mr Andre, 42, and former popstar Kerry Katona.

Mr Hendricks is demanding £549,060 in damages and costs, plus an extra £5million in compensation for the damage to his career, but the channel says he was in breach of contract and is claiming £261,951 from his company Mr H TV Ltd.

Part of the case centres on tweets that were posted by a mysterious Twitter user about Mr Andre.

Tweets from user @Kmaddock related to claims Andre and his brother Michael had 'paid for sexual services with girls in London'.

Twitter users also claimed the brothers had 'discussed flying girls to visit them' on a trip to Australia, the Daily Mirror reported this morning.

Mr Andre added that Mr Hendricks had apparently endorsed 'aggressive or defamatory' messages towards him and on one occasion had tweeted that 'the info @Kmaddock has put out is so spot on'.

As part of the case between Mr Hendricks and ITV2, Mr Andre told the High Court the tweets left him 'distraught and frightened'.

In the witness box today, he said: 'I know what Neville is like and sometimes he can get a bit hot and bothered. But these tweets were different.

'There had been this anger building and building. You didn't know if he was going to act on something.'

But Mr Hendricks' lawyer, Max Mallin, questioned Mr Andre's claims he believed harm 'would come to his friends and family' as a result of the tweets.

The barrister said: 'Now that is simply not true is it? There was no chance that would happen would it?'

Mr Andre said: 'I wouldn't say it if I didn't think it was true. If we were filming in my house and he lost his temper then that would be a chance that would cause distress to my family.'

Mr Andre told Mr Justice Flaux yesterday that his friend and manager, Claire Powell, had a relationship with Mr Hendricks from 2004 to 2010.

But after the breakdown of her relationship, Ms Powell told Mr Andre that her ex-boyfriend had threatened to kill her, her new partner and another colleague, the court heard.

The relationship between Mr Andre and Mr Hendricks broke down in July 2011, after Mr Andre's break-up from glamour model Katie Price, the court was told.

As part of the case, Mr Andre was also asked about an incident which left his daughter Princess badly burnt while she was away with Ms Price, which he found out about during the filming of Peter Andre: The Next Chapter for ITV2.

'I was away on holiday and my daughter was with her mother and her partner at the time,' he told the court.

'I would speak to the children all the time. But it had got towards five days and I hadn't spoken to them and I thought that was a bit strange.'

When he went to pick up his daughter from his cousin's house, she apparently told him, 'Don't look at Princess's back, you're going to scream.'

He said: 'She had a horrific burn on her back and her skin was coming off, and there were no bandages on.'

Mr Andre married Emily MacDonagh on Saturday, but the couple have had to postpone their honeymoon plans because of the court case.

The civil case continues.
