Tom Cruise is dapper in a dark suit and designer shades for dinner in London... after admitting he was 'scared s**tless' while filming Mission Impossible plane stunt

Earlier this week Tom Cruise admitted he was 'scared s**tless' while filming an incredible stunt for the fifth Mission Impossible film.

But on Wednesday night in London he was every inch the suave movie star as he stepped out for dinner in a designer suit and a pair of sunglasses.

Tom, 53, looked cool and collected when he was spotted outside Loulou's Italian restaurant and private members club, a far cry from the terrified actor who clung to the side of an aircraft as it took off at 160mph for Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.

A new behind the scenes sneak peek at filming the scene sees Tom admit: 'I couldn't sleep the night before. And then came the day. I was like "OK, this is really going to happen".'

While actors doing their own stunts is nothing new, it usually involves a lot of camera tricks, editing, safety gear, and a lot less peril for the movie star.

But when the camera starts rolling in the stomach lurching clip, the only difference between what Ethan Hunt is doing and Tom Cruise is doing is a very thin looking cable.

‘If something went wrong, I can't get into the aeroplane til we land,’ he points out in a voiceover.

As the A400m Atlas military transport accelerates to takeoff speed frighteningly fast, the wind whips at Cruise as he clings to the door for dear life. The aircraft tilts upwards and leaves the runway behind, with the sheer velocity now keeping him completely horizontal.

‘I’m feeling the force of the wind hit me. I'm actually scared s**tless,’ he admitted.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday Tom was spotted leaving the Warner Bros offices in London, leading to speculation that he may be in discussions about an as-yet unheard of production.

His three upcoming sequels - Mission Impossible, Jack Reacher and Top Gun - are all with Paramount, while his drug smuggler biopic Mena is with Universal.

Cruise's last film with Warner was 2014's Edge Of Tomorrow. It had been considered his relationship with the studio might sour after HBO, which is also owned by Time Warner, produced the Scientology slamming documentary Going Clear.
