Kate's no-slip shoe secret: The £13 trick that lets the Duchess of Cambridge walk in vertiginous heels all day revealed
- The Duchess of Cambridge is a fan of Alice Bow £13 insoles
- Padded shoe inserts are made from Italian leather in London
- Colours available include bronze, gold, bright pink and turquoise
She's famous for her love of vertiginous heels and her ability to walk around in them seemingly untroubled by sore feet or squeezed toes.
Now, it can be revealed that the secret of the Duchess of Cambridge's successful shoe-wearing skills is a £13 sheepskin insole.
The brainchild of designer Rachel Bowditch, the Alice Bow insoles are ‘covered in premium full-length leather from Italy’ and have sticky spots to prevent them from slipping.

They also boast ‘high quality padding’ that ‘won’t lose its bounce’ and are available in a choice of gold, silver, pink, bronze and turquoise.
While the Duchess’ colour of choice is unknown, she has become famous for her ability to walk in heels for lengthy periods – not least during Princess Charlotte’s christening.
On that occasion, she made the mile-long walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church from Sandringham House and back again wearing a pair of her favourite LK Bennett ‘Sledge’ court shoes.
According to the makers, the £195 patent leather shoes have 10cm (four inch) heels to contend with, as well as a platform sole.

Be a vision in white in Alexander McQueen
The Duchess of Cambridge looks utterly stunning in her bespoke Alexander McQueen dress coat worn to Princess Charlotte's christening.
Naturally, the sophisticated mommy chose McQueen, her go-to designer for an elegant knee length coat, with wide lapels and fitted waist.
The coat dress is quietly becoming Kate's signature look--the classic, demure design always is versatile and instantly chic.
The beauty is in the details, and when it comes to McQueen, we could expect the utmost attention to tailoring, which is important to bear in mind when going for this look yourself.
Though Kate's coat was made to measure, you can purchase something very similar with a few clicks to your right, at SaksFifthAvenue.com. Like Kate's coat, it also features structured shoulders and a flared skirt.
Of course with a brand like McQueen, we can expect a hefty price tag to match, so if you're in the market for more budget friendly options, browse through out style edit below!
Luckily for the Duchess, Bowditch says on her website that the insoles are designed to combat blisters and shocked heels - both of which she used to suffer before creating the insoles.
'All I wanted was to be comfortable in my favourite shoes,' she adds. 'But I couldn't bear to put unsightly insoles into my prize possessions in case anyone saw them when I slipped them off.
'So I started to make my own.'
The revelation about the Duchess' choice of foot-protectors comes in the latest issue of Vanity Fair, which also offers an explanation as to why Kate hasn't been seen in wedges recently.
According to the magazine, Kate has been avoiding the shoes because 'the Queen isn't really a fan of wedged shoes'.
It went on: 'She really doesn't like them and it's well known among the women in the family.'
Sky high: The Duchess regularly wears vertiginous heels and manages to keep them on for hours
Impressive: She even left hospital after Princess Charlotte's birth wearing impressively high heels
