For the position of Writer, reddit is looking for enthusiastic candidates who are funny, strong writers, comfortable with social media, capable of doing a lot of typing throughout the day, familiar with reddit (or hungry enough to learn and fake it), and fluent in English (ideally, also in Spanish). Your responsibilities would involve reporting to the co-founder & executive chair on a regular basis as you develop a voice for reddit. Don’t bother applying if you won’t love making strangers on the internet happy. Some of these tasks may involve responding at odd hours to real-time news events; copyediting a variety of things (please send edits for the mistakes in this job posting); picking out appropriate animated upvote GIFs; and shaping how the next 200 million people (and more) will perceive reddit. Due to the nature of a role at a site with a billion users, give or take a few, it's important to be able to handle stress with outward grace. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS: - Writing punchy, clever, and engaging copy for a variety of social media channels. - Copy-editing episode scripts, suggesting episode titles, and drafting synopses for reddit podcast, upvoted. - Drafting scripts for future reddit creative projects. - Other copyediting duties as needed - blog posts, copy for the website, etc. QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelors degree (English, Journalism preferred). - Proven social media experience. - Excellent writing and grammar skills. - Communication skills (although given this job, that should be self-evident) - Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment - Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
