Anne Hathaway looked chic in a sleeveless navy-blue frock and matching purse/shades while running errands in Manhattan Thursday.

The 31-year-old Oscar winner - who later donned tortoiseshell glasses - coordinated her cute brown sandals with a business-like leather briefcase.

The Grounded thespian appeared to be make-up free for her sunny stroll and she slicked her growing bob into a tidy updo.

The 60-year-old filmmaker recalled to Variety: 'Anne came in, wearing heavy makeup and dressed as a princess, because she was shooting [the Genovian Independence] parade scene for The Princess Diaries 2'

'The casting director [Avy Kaufman] told me the next actress coming in to read was going to apologize for her clothes and makeup,' the 60-year-old filmmaker recalled to Variety last month.

'Then Anne came in, wearing heavy makeup and dressed as a princess, because she was shooting a parade scene for The Princess Diaries 2 on the Universal lot. She used her lunch hour to audition for the part.'
