He was rumoured to be dating former Disney star Selena Gomez last month.

Now Cody Simpson has shed some more, somewhat confusing, light on their rumoured relationship.

The 19-year-old told Dujour Magazine that he and Selena went 'through a phase' where they were close friends but things soon after took a turn.

Rumours emerged about the pair after Selena, 22, posted a snap of the duo eating ice-cream on social media with the caption: 'These days are always the best days.'

The street-taken snap was later re posted by Cody's mother Angie onto her Instagram account.

But while the Australian leaves fans wondering about he and the Come & Get It singer, he reveals he is still in love with ex-flame, Gigi Hadi.

He told the publication: 'I love my ex-girlfriend, I always will,' before revealing the real reason behind their break-up.

Cody said he struggled being in the spotlight and followed around by paparazzi when he was dating the Victoria Secrets model.

'It was an amicable, mutual decision, and we still talk every now and then, but the highly publicized thing made me uncomfortable,' he said about their reasoning to end their two-year relationship.

The former picture-perfect couple announced their break-up back in May through a joint statement.

Despite going their separate ways, Cody and Gigi will both visit Australia next month.
