X-Men director Bryan Singer has labelled allegations he sexually assaulted a man as 'complete, absolute bull***t'.

The 49-year-old was accused of forcing the victim, who said he was in his 20s, to engage in sexual activity just weeks before X-Men: Days of Future Past was released.

Now the father-of-one has revealed he would never have given up making the hit blockbusters because of the allegations, which he has always vehemently denied.

He told Entertainment Weekly: 'This is what I love to do. Making films is something I've been doing since I was 13 years old.

'So to not do it just because of some bull***t, like complete, absolute bull***t, would be absurd.'

The criminal complaint, which was filed to the New York Police Department on May 9 last year, alleged that Mr Singer forced the man into a sexual act on March 23, 2013.

While no charges were filed against the well-known Hollywood director, law enforcement officials launched an investigation.

At the time Mr Singer's lawyer, Martin Singer, said: 'Neither my client nor any of his representatives have been contacted by the NYPD or anyone else about an alleged criminal investigation of my client.

'My client did not engage in any criminal or inappropriate behavior with anyone in New York or elsewhere.'

It is not the first time Mr Singer has been forced to deny allegations.

Two other civil lawsuits, which have both been dropped, previously accused Mr Singer of sexually assaulting teenage boys.

The first, filed in May last year by an unnamed British man known as 'John Doe 117', claimed Mr Singer had drugged and sexually assaulted him in a London hotel.

The man, who said he was a teenager at the time of the alleged incident, withdrew the case two months later.

The second case was filed in April last year by former aspiring actor Michael Egan.

The 31-year-old accused Mr Singer of sexually abusing him during trips to Hawaii when he was 17.

Mr Egan dropped the case after reportedly being unable to find a lawyer who would represent him.
