She's had her work cut out doing up her New York City flat this week.

And it was time to sit back and relax for stylish Emmy Rossum when she stopped by the plush Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood on Thursday.

The 28-year-old actress - who splits her time between Los Angeles and the Big Apple - appeared to be in high spirits as she headed inside the Sunset Boulevard hotel after parking her car.

The Manhattan-born actress dressed elegantly for her visit, opting for a white and navy retro-inspired A-line dress, which bared her shoulders and was cut off just below the knee.

The Shameless star's patterned frock cinched in at the waist and featured delicate scalloped straps.

She teamed her floaty ensemble with white thong sandals and a matching leather bag, finishing off her outfit with a gold wrist watch and little stud earrings.

She natural beauty make-up free for her day out and wore her wavy brunette tresses scraped back off her face in a ponytail.

Prior to her West Coast trip, Emmy, who has recently moved in to her own flat in NYC, had been making acquaintances with her new neighbours.

And The Phantom Of The Opera star has become particularly attached to a white cat she stumbled across lurking in a nearby car park.

Emmy posted a photo of the stray asking her Twitter followers whether they thought she might be either poorly or pregnant.

Hours later she returned to social media, posting a photo of her new feline friend tucking into a big dinner on Instagram.

'This is what happens when I see a stray cat in a parking lot. Only I know that 7-11 sells fancy feast!' she captioned the image.
