Many women hear words like 'budget' and 'saving' and immediately think it means waving goodbye to their favourite designers.

But one Sydney woman has made it her mission to change this outlook, starting a YouTube channel, Sugar Mamma, to show women that it is possible to become financially secure, and still enjoy luxury things.

Canna Campbell, 35, has worked as a financial adviser for 13 years, and started her YouTube channel in January.

She has since earned herself over 27,000 followers thanks to her refreshing perspective on finance.

‘I did it for fun initially because I noticed a huge gap in the market of young people who were quietly motivated to learn about money and investing, but completely overwhelmed and intimidated by the whole idea of seeing a financial adviser,’ Ms Campbell told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I wanted to show that money is not a taboo subject and to talk about it in an exciting, empowering and liberating way so people can see that financial independence and security is actually realistic.’

Ms Campbell became interested in the finance industry when she was studying and working part-time as a bar girl, pulling beers.

After saving hundreds of tips in her top drawer, she decided to deposit them into the bank and made her first investment.

‘Once I got my first dividend and learned about how it all worked, I realised this is what I wanted to do for a living,’ Ms Campbell said.

‘I decided to share it with others and get more people on board because it can remove so much stress from your life.’

Ms Campbell, who has so far posted 20 videos on financial advice, improvement and investing, has earned herself a strong fan base due to her non-traditional approach.

‘I’m a female who started investing young who loves and is really interested in fashion,’ Ms Campbell said.

‘I appreciate beautiful things, love to travel and have a soft spot for luxury purchases so I understand the temptations and desires as well as all the fears people have.’

While Ms Campbell is a lover of Chanel handbags, she understands how to find balance.

‘I really believe in buying quality pieces over quantity and yes I might splurge on a beautiful handbag but I won’t buy any other handbags during the year,’ Ms Campbell said.

‘I have a few financial goals which I have to achieve first and then reward myself with a splurge like that.’

With 93 per cent of Ms Campbell’s audience female, she wants to help women become more aware of their spending and has sent out over 3,000 budgets.

‘Once you show people how to do a budget they have their own ‘aha’ moments where they realise how much they are spending in a year and they come to their own conclusions,’ Ms Campbell said.

‘I always tell them it’s important to buy what you love, value and appreciate.’

Receiving over 100 emails a day, Ms Campbell is excited to inspire people to start building an income early in life, rather than relying solely on a job.

‘One of my main projects is all about building a passive income and not being reliant on a salary to live and being able to support yourself financially without working,’ Ms Campbell said.

‘I want people to realise the potential that exists out there, and to help them make small differences now that will make the biggest differences in the future.'

With the money saved through passive income, Ms Campbell will show people how to turn $1,000 into an investment portfolio that can pay for a Chanel handbag every year.

Ms Campbell will start her '$1,000 Project' within the next month.
