Louis Tomlinson has become one of the most talked-about people on the planet following the shock news that he is set to father a child.

And now, just one day after the reports of his impending fatherhood came to light, he has both appeared on stage for the first time, and has also broken his Twitter silence.

Although the 23-year-old didn't directly address the news, he thanked his fans for their support after Wednesday night's One Direction gig in Seattle, the group's first public appearance following the reveal.

From the west coast of the US, he wrote: 'Amazing show ! Thank you for the support !!'

During the gig on Wednesday, Louis put on his professional face as he continued to get on with the day job in the wake of the life-changing baby reports.

Wearing a sleeveless black vest, the singer performed alongside his fellow 1D stars Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne.

He even seemed happier than usual, flashing his winning smile at the audience as they screamed their affections for the hitmakers.

The boys have no doubt rallied around Louis in the days following the news that he is set to become a first-time parent with his friend and former fling Briana Jungwirth, also 23.

They have been forced to be a stronger unit than ever since they were rocked earlier this year when fifth member Zayn Malik suddenly revealed his departure from the group after five years.

The devoted and often-emotional fans have met the shock baby news with a mix of emotions, but mostly joy, as evidenced by their slew of hilarious memes posted online in the wake of the news, which was revealed on Tuesday.

Outside the Seattle gig - which is one of many dates on the Steal My Girl hitmakers' On The Road Again tour - fans also showed their backing by setting up toy donation bins for Louis and Briana, while others held up supportive posters.

Louis Walsh, meanwhile, has shared his views on the 1D star's baby news, after having watched them grow into a super-successful boyband from their days on The X Factor back in 2010.

Speaking to Newcastle radio station Metro Radio 3, he said: 'At this stage in their career it doesn't really matter. They've made it, they've done everything they wanted to do. They're making one more album.

'They've had an amazing career, they're brilliant guys, great songs. Louis is having a baby, that's fine, at least he's up front about it.'

Parents-to-be: It was revealed earlier this week that the boyband star and his former fling Briana Jungwirth, 23, are expecting a child together

Louis and Briana, a close friend of his, are set to become parents early in 2016 following their brief romance in May.

At the time, the pair were spotted on a series of nightclub dates in Los Angeles.

It is believed Briana is around 11 weeks pregnant and Louis has accompanied her to medical visits regarding the baby.

The MailOnline revealed exclusively how Louis's mother Johannah Deakin – who has seven children including Louis – met Californian stylist Briana Jungwirth earlier this month.

Briana lives with her mother, Tammi Clark and stepfather Brett Clark in Calabasas, California.

Deakin traveled with her husband, Dan, to California and both sets of parents attended Briana's most recent ob-gyn appointment in Los Angeles.

They all saw the ultrasound together and heard the baby's heart beat for the first time.

WHO IS BRIANA JUNGWIRTH? MEET THE WOMAN BEHIND THE HEADLINES:

The 23-year-old is a Los Angeles-based stylist who works in the fashion industry,

She was introduced to Louis by a mutual friend earlier this year, with the pair pictured on a string of nights out together in May.

The pretty blonde is thought to live in Calabasas, California, the same exclusive neighbourhood where the Kardashians reside.

Louis is reportedly house-hunting in the area to be close to her.

Described as 'a very private person', Briana is not thought to have any social media accounts and doesn't even appear to have a Facebook page.

Sources claim she only attended her first One Direction concert recently and is not interested in his fame.

She is not in a relationship with Louis, with a mutual pal describing the two as simply 'close friends'.

Briana is also said to get on very well with Louis' parents, and she spent the July 4th weekend hanging out with his mother Johannah and stepfather Dan after they flew to the US meet up.

While a mutual friend of the pair insists that while Louis and the stylist aren't in a relationship, the singer will be a 'hands-on dad' when their baby arrives early next year.

The pair were introduced through mutual friends a few months ago following Louis' split from his long-term girlfriend Eleanor Calder in March.

'Louis is happy and very excited about becoming a dad and he thinks Briana will be an amazing mother. It was a surprise at first, but he and Briana are very, very close friends and this has brought them even closer,' the source has told People.

'They are both really happy and although they aren't in a relationship, their friendship is extremely strong and they are both really excited about the baby. It's early days and Briana and the baby's health are the most important things right now,' adds the friend.

A representative for Louis had 'no comment' on the report when contacted by MailOnline.

Louis was seen holding hands with the American beauty as he left the Snoop Dogg album release party on 12 May in Los Angeles.

A source told The Mirror at the time of their relationship: 'Louis is mainly in LA to work on 1D's new album but he is also making sure he is having plenty of fun.

'His friend gets on with her friend, so they've all been hanging out together. He is young and single, so why not?'

Louis, who has spent much of his recent time off from the band in LA, is reportedly already making plans ahead of the birth, and has been on the hunt for properties near Briana in California.

An insider told the paper: 'It was obviously a surprise but they are both really happy. Louis really cares about Briana and thinks she will be a great mum. Their friendship has got even stronger through this.'

News of the pregnancy comes just two weeks after Louis was pictured cosying up to model Tamara Bell at Glastonbury.
