Pure Heroine! Lorde shows off makeup free beauty as she suffers from 'insomnia throes'... days after performing onstage with BFF Taylor Swift

Just days ago she lit up the stage with BFF Taylor Swift.

But Lorde's performance peak was evened out by a sleepless valley on Thursday.

The 18-year-old Instagrammed a very early morning selfie of herself, her face wet with water, alongside the caption 'insomnia throes.'

Lorde, real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor, was barraged with kind words, with compliments like 'Ho my god, she's a princess!' and 'Omg. The stare. I can't. It's too mesmerising.'

In the shot the Royals star's face is wiped clean of makeup and dripping with water as she reveals her luminous skin.

On Monday night the Royals singer took to the stage in Washington D.C., making a special guest appearance on Taylor Swift's 1989 World Tour.

Taylor and Lorde  made a show of themselves and represented their unique styles well, with the former rocking an ethereal in white and the latter adorned in black.

The New Zealand songstress went to Instagram to gush about the night, writing: 'Looking over at my girl like "can u believe this is the kind of fun stuff we get to do for a living" THANKS TAY AND D.C. GETTING TO SING FOR U TONIGHT RULED.'

Step into summer in style in a floral maxi dress like Lorde

Lorde is one celebrity whose style is constantly evolving. One minute she's in a tuxedo on the red carpet, the next a sweater on a plane that reads "Goon" and the next a chiffon floral maxi dress on the cover of Vogue Australia. We can't keep up!

We have to say that despite loving her androgynous style, as it's a bit different to everyone else, Lorde is totally rocking the girly-girl look here on Vogue, especially with her gorgeous, voluminous curls.

This stunning Gucci number is a piece straight off the Fall 2015 runway meaning it's not yet available to buy, but click right to bag a current spring collection dress at Matches Fashion.

If you're not keen on hanging around for Lorde's dress (or spending a small fortune), see our fancy floral maxi dresses below to help you channel her vibe.

Lorde has happily posted more makeup free selfies lately, showing off her luminous, milky complexion and natural beauty.

Just last month, Lorde's elfin allure captivated fashion followers on her first cover of Vogue Australia.

The two time Grammy award winner posed demurely for the magazine in a fabulous floral Gucci masterpiece, her dark tresses tumbling over her shoulders and in her trademark plum-coloured lipstick.

Titled 'The music issue' the talented Royals singer is the magazine's big sell, appearing alongside a hot house of Australian talent including Sia, Daniel Johns and Vance Joy.
