I'm making a commitment to "Call in" before I "Call out." If someone says something problematic, I'll pull them aside and discuss privately.
I think we're all too eager to send an outraged mob at someone. Having been on the other side of that, I think it should be a last resort.

If the goal is to help someone learn that their language or attitudes are hurtful, I think that can often be done without public humiliation
