Working off the calories! Padma Lakshmi hits the gym day after cooking dinner for fellow Emmy nominee Orange Is The New Black's Danielle Brooks

They woke up to learn they're both in Emmy-nominated shows.

But last night Top Chef Padma Lakshmi enjoyed cooking dinner for her Orange Is The New Black pal Danielle Brooks.

And on Thursday afternoon the New Delhi-born beauty worked off the calories, and the excitement, by hitting a gym in New York.

The 44-year-old showed off her slender figure in a tight white vest, black cropped leggings with a light blue stripe down the side and black sneakers as she strolled along the busy sidewalk.

Pulling her tresses up into a ponytail, the former Mrs Salman Rushdie didn't appear to be wearing any make-up as she carried her things in a black bag that she slung over her shoulder.

On Thursday Danielle took to Instagram to thank her friend for dinner saying: 'Hanging out with this vibrant beauty,' with a snap of them sitting in Padma's garden.

The 25-year-old, who plays Tasha 'Taystee' Jefferson on the Netflix original series, looked casual in a white vest that showed off her ample cleavage, black leggings with white a pattern of white daisies and a brown cap worn sideways.

Padma posted the same picture, captioned: 'Loved having you over for supper dear!'

She also took to social media to offer 'Congratulations to our whole team' at Bravo's Top Chef for Outstanding Reality Program nomination against Amazing Race, Dancing With The Stars, Project Runway, The Voice and So You Think You Can Dance.

The Bravo show, which has been nominated seven times, won the category in 2008. It is presently filming the 13th season in California which will debut in the fall.
