But Johnny Depp and wife Amber Heard left the sunny state for the actor's next filming destination on Friday.

The couple, who married in February, were seen sitting in their private jet as they prepared to take off for Hamilton Island on Friday night, after Amber was charged with illegally smuggling her two pet dogs into Australia, earlier this year.

Peeking out of the oval window, Johnny covered up his eyes with a pair of dark aviator sunglasses.

The 52-year-old was recognisable by his iconic mustache and goatee as he covered his dark hair with a hat.

Meanwhile, Amber was seen to his right, covering up her blonde locks with a large black cowboy style hat.

On Thursday, Amber was charged by the Australian government for smuggling her two pooches, Pistol and Boo, into the country on April 21.

The 29-year-old faces two counts of illegally importing the terriers on a private jet and one count of producing a false document.

She could face more than 10 years imprisonment if authorities decide to inflict the penalty.

Amber has been issued with a summons to appear in a Queensland court on 7 September, although it's not yet known whether she will attend in person, the Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions said on Thursday.

Johnny has avoided any charges in relation to the event.
