Chantelle Houghton keeps her head down at shops after Kerry Katona hits out at her for dating 'Katie Price's sloppy seconds'

She's been in a war of words with Kerry Katona this week after declaring she wasn't surprised over the pop star's latest marriage woes.

But after being hit by a length Twitter rant by Kerry on Wednesday, it looked like Chantelle Houghton was trying to keep her head down and out of trouble on Thursday.

The former glamour model, 31, was spotted heading to the shops in her Essex neighbourhood with her three-year-old daughter Dolly.

Wearing patterned trousers, sandals and a black vest, the single mother looked serious as she parked her car and headed to the shops.

Chantelle has been noticeably quiet since Kerry's Twitter rant on Wednesday and is yet to respond to the latter's accusations of being 'judgemental' and 'fame-hungry'.

The Atomic Kitten singer also mocked Chantelle for her past relationship with Alex Reid, dubbing his 'Katie Price's sloppy seconds'.

Chantelle dated Alex for 17 months, during which they became engaged and welcomed their daughter Dolly.

Their romance started in April 2011 - three months after he separated from Katie after just 11 months of marriage.

The whole row started after Chantelle wrote in her new! magazine column this week that she thought Kerry's reported 'estrangement' from third husband George Kay 'was always going to happen'.

The 31-year-old wrote: 'Kerry Katona throwing out her husband, George Kay, is obviously a bit sad, but I feel it was always going to happen.

'I'm so over Kerry. It's just one thing after another with her.

'How much drama can one woman have in her life?'

Taking Chantelle to task on Wednesday evening, Kerry, 34, posted a long statement, reading: 'Before you judge someone, look deep in the mirror and say do I really have that right? We all have our issues we deal with!

'Not my place to judge, is it yours? Judgemental people are so miserable they have to drag others down and put them down to make themselves feel better. These people are fame-hungry has-beens!

'So sorry was I being judgemental? What a shame it's your last column... all the best for the future.'

Kerry then retweeted a series of followers messages, before tweeting Chantelle and New! magazine directly.

She then brought up Chantelle's ex-fiance Alex Reid - who famously married Katie Price for 11 months - who fathered her daughter Dolly, before splitting after a 17-month romance.

She wrote: '@new_magazine @chantellehought well said what was needed and the truth! Enough is enough, you've now got the press you wanted/NEEDED. See ya.

What next? Chantelle's column this week was her last for new! magazine, so it's unsure what move she'll make next in her career

It appeared Kerry decided 140 characters weren't enough to defend herself against Chantelle's criticisms, so posted an image of another long post, where she hit out at the glamour model for dating 'Katie's sloppy seconds'.

She wrote: 'Enough is enough... I just want to say no hard feelings for your comments and kicking a mother while she is down and that I'm sure it was a last attempt at making some kind of press for yourself!

'As you of all people would know how very quickly YOU yourself was judged, going out with Katie's sloppy seconds and of course the whole... Mmm not sure what to call it.

'But at the fact my children are old enough to view a tweet, buy magazines, I won't go there. As one day so will Dolly!

'Not sure about you but I know for a fact I want to teach my kids never ever to judge anyone who they've never met or had any contact with!

'And even then if they do know them, then to put their selves into their shoes and maybe, just maybe they would try to understand!
