Worried dad Joe Jungwirth said Briana, 23, has been texting him constantly since the news broke earlier this week, keeping him appraised of how she's coping.

And construction boss Joe, who admits the pregnancy 'wasn't planned', says that right now his daughter is feeling a 'little overwhelmed'.

What's worse, he and musician wife Karen fear Briana's brush with fame and the whirlwind of attention that comes with it, may end up 'ruining her life'.

Speaking at his home in Redfield, South Dakota, he told Daily Mail Online: 'The publicity and everything, it can be overwhelming yes.

'Briana's really shy, she's strong but shy, she's tough but shy and she's having a tough time with it, it's stressing her out right now, she's texting me all the time.

'Now that she's out of her mother's house she's a little bit better but she really doesn't like any of this stuff.'

Stylist Briana – seen here as a high school student in yearbook photos exclusively obtained by Daily Mail Online - is currently in hiding at a hotel paid for by Louis and his team.

The couple started dating in April, weeks after the 1D star's break-up with Eleanor Calder.

Briana, who is now three months pregnant, told mum Tammi, stepdad Brett and stepbrother Austin around two weeks ago at their home in Calabasas, California.

She then told dad Joe and step-mom Karen in South Dakota soon afterwards.

Joe, 56, revealed: 'It's the first kid in our family, this will be the first grandkid. Yeh we're excited about it, Briana is doing great I guess.

'It's a bit of a shock, you know, they're kids, stuff happens, but I'm supporting her. I love her to death and it's all good.'

Joe says he does listen to One Direction songs, confessing, 'They're a good band'.

On Briana, he added: 'We love her and support her, we're behind her, that's all I can tell you.'

Joe's wife Karen, 59, who flanked him as he spoke on the front lawn of their sprawling lakeside property, admits the family has been 'distressed' and 'concerned' by all the attention Briana is getting online.

The young hair and makeup stylist has been savagely attacked by internet trolls since the news of her pregnancy broke.

Some 1D fans have even ridiculously suggested the baby's mother is in fact Louis' bandmate Harry Styles.

The story shocked Directioners who enjoy 'shipping' — essentially imagining Louis is in a relationship with Harry.

They brand the pair Larry and even create fiction, which is often erotic in nature, about the two.

Karen admits the trolls are starting to get under her skin. 'I'm distressed for all the crap I've read online in the middle of the night,' she said.

'It's exciting for us and, you know, it's unusual and very strange. But last night in the middle of the night in my anxiety I was like, I'm not gonna look again, because it's too weird these days, what things are said on Twitter, it's just crazy stuff.'

Adding that life under the spotlight can be overwhelming, she said: 'I just hope all this doesn't ruin her life, I care about that, we are at the beginning of something and she's a private person, she's not a Facebook person or anything like that.'

And if anyone knows about the perils of fame it's Karen – who we can reveal was a respected musician in her own right.

Karen, who uses her maiden name Karen Lawrence when performing, is a hugely successful musician with a long history in the business.

Briana's stepmother, a singer/songwriter has a string of hits and big name collaborations to her credit.

Asked if she can offer any advice to Briana as she enters in to Louis' world of music and global fame, Karen said: 'It's very different, but I'm concerned for her future.'

She added: 'This is really scary for someone in her condition [being pregnant], especially when she's only 23, I think it's pretty overwhelming.'

And Karen confessed she had never even heard any of One Direction's songs before this all happened. She said: 'The most I know about them is what I've seen since this whole thing started.'

Asked if Louis is a good singer, she laughed and said, 'no comment'.

Karen, who also plays guitar, was most notably front woman for a band called 1994, which released an album on A&M Records.

Her distinctive and emotive vocal styling often put her on international critics' 'Best Female Singer' lists.

The bands Karen sang in toured with Aerosmith and Cheap Trick and also opened for AC/DC and Ted Nugent.

She has lead vocal and writing credits on Jeff Beck's 'Beckology' album and sang backup vocals on 'Get it up' from Draw the Line by Aerosmith.

And while Louis is used to performing to sell out crowds as part of One Direction, Karen, in 1976, performed for 100,000 people at Arizona State University in a band called LA Jets.

The concert was put together for the film 'A Star is Born' and Lawrence joined stars including Peter Frampton, Kris Kristofferson and Santana on stage.

Her most notable coup, however, was composing 'Prisoner', the theme song for the film 'The Eyes of Laura Mars', which was immortalized by Barbra Streisand and included on her Greatest Hits II album.

She also sang the title song of the 1980s TV series Misfits of Science. In the 1990s, Lawrence was in a band called Blue by Nature and today she is still performing and writing songs.

Karen married construction firm owner Joe in 2002 – the couple celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary Wednesday.

They met at Venice Beach in California after Joe had split with Briana's mother when their daughter was aged ten.

Briana stayed in California when Joe and Karen moved to Redfield in 2007, where today Joe runs home construction firm Cal Jo Construction Inc.

From these yearbook photos shot in 2010, it's clear that Briana was like any other teen growing up in California.

Underneath one photo is a quote which reads, 'Desire is desire wherever you go. The sun will not bleach it, nor the tide take it away.'

It's likely the young teen was a fan of Hollywood heartthrob, Leonardo DiCaprio, as the quote she chosen is a line said by the actor in his movie, The Beach, which was released a decade earlier in 2000.

Briana attended Agoura High School in Calabasas, California. Set in a affluent area of greater Los Angeles, the school also educated a number of famous alumni, including movie star, Heather Graham, band members of Linkin Park and The Calling, and also Love Actually actress, Olivia Olson.

A second photo shows Briana with her school friends, girls who pupils fondly remembered for being the ones that their fellow classmates could turn to for help and support with their school work.

Beneath the photo reads: 'Girls Corner – the girls are always happy to help each other out.'

Dressed casually in a black flower-print baseball cap, cream sweater and jeans, Briana looks a picture of happiness at her sun-kissed California high school, which is set amongst mountainous hills and boasts a huge outdoor swimming pool.

Agoura High School is also linked to the infamous 'Bling Ring', in which eight high school students began robbing young A-list celebrities in the Calabasas area. The group attended Agoura High when it was previously located in Indian Hills.
