Mel Gibson 'houses daughter Lucia in lavish $40 million property'after bitter court wrangle over access during trip to Australia

Court proceedings ensured their Australian adventure got off to a difficult start, but Mel Gibson is reportedly ensuring daughter Lucia’s first visit to the country is a memorable one by putting her up in a lavish coastal property.

The actor welcomed five-year-old Lucia on Wednesday morning after a bitter court wrangle with former partner Oksana Grigorieva ended with a judge granting permission for the child to spend an extended period of time with her father in his adopted homeland.

The Sydney Morning Herald report the pair are now residing at heritage listed Craigend estate, a sprawling $40 million property located on the city’s picturesque Darling Point.

Davey is currently working with the 59-year-old actor – who was raised in Sydney after moving to Australia from New York City as a child – as pre-production gets underway in New South Wales on his latest film project, World War II epic Hacksaw Ridge.

In June a Los Angeles court granted the Mad Max star permission to spend a month with Lucia in Australia while he lays the groundwork for the new film, which commences filming in November.
