A group of nurses waved excitedly as Prince William took off in helicopter after delivering a patient to hospital for the first time
A crowd of people who gathered were left gobsmacked when they realised the rescue was by royal appointment.
But none were more excited, it seems, than a group of nurses who waved excitedly as Prince William took off in helicopter after delivering a patient to hospital for the first time.
An onlooker said: 'You could see William in the front seat of the helicopter when it touched down on the helipad.
'The patient was unloaded by paramedics and taken inside. William got out and had a look around, checking everything was OK with his chopper.
'Word got around the hospital pretty quickly that he had flown in and some nurses who were on a break rushed out to see if they could see him. They were all trying to take pictures on their phones and were waving as he took off.'
Onlooker Nina Allen captured the rescue on camera.
The 23-year-old care assistant had been taking nature photos when the drama unfolded.
The man, in his 50s, had collapsed with a suspected heart attack in Felixstowe, Suffolk, and medics dashed to the scene, including the East of England Air Ambulance being flown by The Duke of Cambridge
She said: 'I saw the air ambulance come down and thought I would have a look to see what was happening.
'When I initially went over, I did not think about Prince William being there.
'People then realised it was the prince and started to get really excited.
'I zoomed in with my camera and got some nice pictures of him.
'He did not look our way, but he is doing his job and can't be spending all his time waving at onlookers.'
In one of her images Miss Allen, who lives in Felixstowe, even captured the prince checking his phone for messages.
She added: 'I was never a big royalist when I was growing up but I have always thought highly of Will and Kate.

'They are a proper family - they work and they have their family life and I think they're good people.
'It's quite a story to tell my friends.'
Later on, as the Prince left the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital in the 167-mph chopper, he was waved on his way by a crowd of nurses and staff after word spread of his arrival.
A spokeswoman for The East of England Ambulance Service Trust said they had been called to the incident at 10.52 yesterday
She said: 'An ambulance, East Anglian Air Ambulance and a rapid response vehicle, which arrived to scene in four minutes, attended and treated a man in his late 50s who had collapsed with chest pains.
'He was flown to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further care.
