Amy Schumer's 'inappropriate' Star Wars parody for GQ was NOT 'approved or condoned' by Disney and Lucasfilm

Amy Schumer's 'inappropriate' parody cover shoot for GQ did not go down well with Star Wars producers or superfans.

A representative for the film franchise used the Official Twitter account to inform those complaining that Disney and Lucasfilm did not 'approve, participate in or condone' the use of its characters.

The cover in question is for the men's magazine's August comedy issue and sees American comedian Amy sucking provocatively on C-3PO's finger in Princess Leia's Slave Bikini.

Outraged fans branded the magazine cover - which accompanied a lewd interview with the comedienne sexualising the beloved characters - 'lame,' 'shameful' and 'distasteful' on social media.

But the representative behind the verified Star Wars account was quick to dispel the association with Disney and Lucasfilm.

A tweeted posted on Wednesday read: 'Lucasfilm & Disney didn't approve, participate in or condone the inappropriate use of our characters in this manner,' on Wednesday.

MailOnline has requested comment from GQ, as well as Lucasfilm and Disney.

In one of the insider shots, a topless Amy - who's currently promoting her new film Trainwreck - is seen hopping into bed with R2-D2, too.

Esteemed photographer Mark Seliger captured the unlikely threesome's intimate moment, with the full set of images to be released in GQ's comedy issue on Monday.

The magazine praises Schumer as the 'the funniest woman in the galaxy' and the 'gutsiest comedian in America,' while hailing the extraordinary shoot 'out of this world'.

Amy's new film, which hits cinemas on Friday, is similarly centred around sex.

Trainwreck zones in on one commitment-phobic career woman, played by Amy, who struggles with her beliefs that monogamy is impossible when she finally meets the right man.
