What a Legend! Tom Hardy trains with troops as he reveals he would have been in the Marines had he not become an actor

Tom Hardy has revealed that he would have been in the Royal Marines had acting not worked out for him.

The 37-year-old Hollywood star shared his past career goal while training with troops at RM Condor in Scotland this week.

Tom, who is set to star as both the Kray twins in upcoming biopic Legend, was not afraid to give his all as he was put through his paces alongside 45 Commando Royal Marines in Arbroath.

Major Giles Duncan, the second-in-command of 45 Commando, said: 'Tom was hugely impressed by our Royal Marines and told me he was humbled by what the lads did.

'He confided that, had he not become an actor, he would have liked to have been a Marine.' 

The Mad Max star, who is an honorary member of the Royal Marines Corps, trained with troops and visited a site of remembrance to honour those who have died while serving with the unit.

Sergeant Kev Bowie, the unit's physical training instructor, said: 'All at 45 Commando hope that Tom enjoyed his short but eventful stay at RM Condor.

'The mighty 45 have put him through his paces over the past 48 hours; he understands our ethos and corps values and has an insight into what is required to wear the coveted Green Beret.'  

The actor's visit to Scotland comes as the full-length trailer for his upcoming film Legend has been released.

Tom plays both Ronnie and Reggie Kray in the new biopic about the two London gangster twins and the East Sheen-born star is already receiving rave reviews for his portrayal.

The movie, set and filmed in London's East End, follows the rise of the Kray twins during the Sixties and the criminal activities that led to their arrest on May 9, 1968.
