Daddy-daughter day! Mel Gibson delights in spending quality time with his little girl Lucia after court grants actor permission to fly her to Australia

He was granted one month with five-year-old Lucia in June after a court battle with ex-partner Oksana Grigorieva to let her join him in Australia while he's away filming.

And Mel Gibson seemed delighted to be spending quality time with his daughter on Wednesday in Sydney.

The actor, 59, took a break from filming Hacksaw Ridge, Down Under, to spend time with one of his eight children, the only one who he's very rarely granted access to.

Mel watched Lucia as she ran circles around him on a pink scooter by their hotel pool area.

The sweet girl wore a bright rabbit top and white leggings with UGG-style boots, her hair plaited neatly into a high ponytail.

The Braveheart star gazed at her with pure affection beneath his sunglasses and even carried a camera to make sure he kept the memories from their daddy-daughter day.

On Thursday night he took his little girl for dinner at Pink Salt in Double Bay.

The star enjoyed a meal of scallops followed by lamb shoulder,  the venue's signature dish.

The father and daughter then tucked into chocolate soft serve before they were seen departing in a black hire car.

Lucia accompanied her famous father to Australia earlier this week following a bitter feud between Mel and her mother, Russian pianist, Oksana.

In June a Los Angeles court granted the Mad Max star permission to spend a month with Lucia in his homeland during pre-production for the new film, which commences filming in November.

It is understood that Oksana, 45, did not want their daughter to go and objected to her spending time overseas with her father.

However, at the hearing they are said to have told the judge they want to become better co-parents of their daughter.

It was reported that Gibson initially offered his ex a settlement of $15 million, but she refused.

The actor appeared in an LA courtroom in May 2014 asking for the charge to be expunged from his record, according to RadarOnline.

Mel was previously in Australia last May scouting locations for the movie, which is based on the story of Desmond Doss.

The medic and war hero was a Seventh Day Adventist and refused to bear arms on religious grounds.

Andrew Garfield will be appear in the film in the lead role and it is the first movie Mel has made in Australia since Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome in 1985.
