'I think she's ready': Judd Apatow says Amy Schumer can handle superstardom... as new movie Trainwreck has strong opening

It seems Judd Apatow has climbed on board the Amy Schumer bandwagon.

The comedy director has said the star of his new film Trainwreck is well equipped for the fame many say is about to come her way.

His comments came as it emerged the film, which concerns the drunken dating exploits of a character based on the shock comic, had a stronger than expected opening, with experts predicting it could have staying power at the box office due to strong reviews.

Strap up in Amy's triple strap heels

She's been walking the red carpet for her new film Trainwreck recently, and when it comes to fashion Amy is definitely no wreck. She's been cutting quite the stylish figure lately, and this outfit for the New York premiere is no different.

Keeping it chic in all black, Amy teamed her low cut figure hugging dress with a pair of seriously lust worthy Gianvito Rossi strappy sandals and we're majorly coveting these babies.

The triple strap, the high stiletto heel, the gorgeous curve - these shoes are the epitome of sexy stems. Luckily if you're after the designer pair for yourself you can bag them at Barney's right now by clicking the link to the right, although be prepared to part with a fair bit of cash to do so.

For a more affordable alternative, you can still get that sultry look with a pair of the below high street options, which will look just as gorgeous on. Choose from a high fashion splurge at Christopher Kane to a half multi strap version at BCBG.

Discussing how the effects of a big hit will transform her career, Judd told Variety: 'I don’t think you understand what it is until it happens.

'I remember Jonah Hill when he did Superbad, you sensed for him things that changed overnight in terms of enormous recognition the weekend after the movie opened.

'I think because she’s on Comedy Central and she’s touring, she’s ready for the exposure. But it’s also a drag, because you can’t just walk down the street and be goofy. Everyone wants to take a selfie.'

In the movie the saucy 34-year-old plays Amy, a commitment-phobic career woman.

However she has to face her fear head on when she meets a doctor, played by former Saturday Night Live alumni Bill Hader, who has no defects she can use as an excuse to justify breaking up.

Comedy kingpin Judd also revealed that Trainwreck was not even the film he had intended to make with the blonde beauty, and he ended up canning a less original idea to tackle the thrilling world of the rom-com.

He said: 'We worked on another idea for six months, but it didn’t feel as personal as this. And then one day I said, “I think you can come up with something stronger that’s closer to your life.”'

'It was a lot more high-concept. I feel like what she told me about her dating life was more interesting.

'A lot of times you have to explain to people what they see as their boring lives is actually fascinating. If you’re just truthful, it’s very engaging.'

Amy also penned the movie, though Judd, whose hits include 40 Year Old Virgin, This Is 40 and, lest we forget, Get Him To The Greek, was heavily involved in helping her polish her screenplay.

He said: 'I never do any rewriting, but we go through it line by line and kick it around and pitch ideas and jokes. We do it in chunks until we get to the end, and then start at the beginning and do it again.'

According to Variety, early figures indicate Trainwreck raked in $1.8 million in Thursday night previews, and Friday matinee numbers indicated that the raunchy comedy will outperform forecasts, which were in the $18 million to $22 million range.

Don't be a Hader: While some have been unnerved by the amount of hype Amy has been getting, it seems her turn opposite Bill in Trainwreck is going to back up the intense promotion of the comedienne
