Jay 'Mitchell' Brown - originally taken in by Lola's great-grandfather, Billy Mitchell - has been keeping Ben Mitchell's tawdry gay encounters a secret from his ex-girlfriend, Abi Branning, for months - despite harboring lingering feelings for her.

But it looks as though the adopted Mitchell has finally resolved his issues with the Ben and Abi mess, as he sweeps Lola off of her feet during an encounter in Albert Square's iconic public green.

But being Jay, the kiss couldn't just be romantic, it had to come at a dramatic price too.

The Arches stalwart cuts a haggered figure as they talk on the bench - possibly ruminating over the fact that Ben could try to slip out of the frame for murder by implicating him in Lucy Beale's death.

And still clearly harboring feelings for her adopted family member, Lola can't help but offer a shoulder for him to cry on as they talk on the bench.

Giving in to his feelings of lust and a desire for reassurance, Jay kisses Lola back - but with Danielle's character set to leave The Square shortly, could this be the start of the end for the burgeoning love-birds.

And although viewer's have seen the pair share sweet-nothings and romantic liaisons before, this latest brush with their feelings could come to more as it happens at a time when Jay's loyalties have been split.
