Acupuncture for Chemotherapy Side Effects

AcupunctureWhile chemotherapy is an incredible, life saving treatment available for many types of cancers, there are some really awful side effects.  Nausea, vomiting, and fatigue are almost guaranteed when treated with chemotherapy.  There are drugs used to treat these side effects, however few of these drugs work or are even remotely helpful.

One treatment that is accompanied with virtually no side effects is acupuncture.  I am thankful that I’ve had the opportunity to treat a few patients with these chemo related side effects.  In my experience, the acupuncture has had an amazing effect on these side effects.  Patients have gone from complete agony, fatigue, and 24 hour nausea to a state where they have the energy to exercise and their appetites are almost completely back to normal.

If you are suffering with side effects from chemotherapy, I highly suggest you consider acupuncture to help.

Quote about acupuncture’s effectiveness on nausea & vomiting:

Of all the investigated effects of acupuncture on cancer-related or chemotherapy-related symptoms and disorders, the positive effect of acupuncture on chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (N/V) is the most convincing, as demonstrated by the consistency of the results of a variety of clinical study types, including randomized clinical trials (RCTs), nonrandomized trials, prospective consecutive case series, and retrospective studies (refer to Table 3 at the end of this section).
