One Direction star Niall Horan and Justin Bieber have been pictured sitting next to what appears to be a suspicious looking glass pipe while in Los Angeles.

The boys were joined by Australian singer, Cody Simpson, 18, when the picture, which has been obtained by The Sun was taken.

As Cody strums away on his guitar, Justin, 21, sits by his side as Niall, 21, perches on the end of a sofa, looking into the distance.

The yellow pipe sits on a table next to a bottle of water and what appears to be a demo CD and various other items.

The image was recorded on Cody's Snapchat account and during the 10-second clip, Justin sings along to his hit song, Home To Mama.

There is nothing to suggest any of the boys have been taking drugs.

MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for Niall Horan, Justin Bieber and Cody Simpson for comment.

Justin and Cody have been close friends for some time and neither have made a secret out of the fact that they have smoked cannabis in the past.

In January 2014, sources close to Bieber claimed the young star was spending as much as £5,000 a week on marijuana.

Back in January, TMZ reported that Cody posted a picture of a packet of suspicious looking cigarettes, before deleting the snap.

Meanwhile, Bieber and Niall have been firm friends as far back as 2012 when the pair shared a picture of themselves cooking noodles at 2am.

At the time Justin tweeted a photo of the scene, adding in the caption: 'At my house cookin some noodles with @NiallOfficial.'

They met briefly in 2010 when television presenter Konnie Huq introduced the pair during a segment for Xtra Factor and they have since been pictured on a fan's Instagram account.

Niall is currently on tour with One Direction in the USA and the clip has emerged after he was pictured leaving Nobu in Malibu, with a mystery blonde by his side last week.

The singer was enjoying a rare night off from the band’s hectic tour which is now seeing them make their way across North America.

The boys will continue to tour around North America until September 12 when they end at Massachusetts' Foxborough Stadium.

Meanwhile, Justin made headlines when he appeared on the cover of Interview Magazine , where he talked about his new album - which he is currently working on with Skrillex and Diplo - as well as his love life, insisting he was single.

Justin - who has younger half-siblings Jasmyn and Jaxon from a relationship of his father Jeremy's - is currently single and focusing his attention on his family, he told Martha Stewart, who was conducting the interview.

He said: '[I have] no girlfriend at the moment, no. I'm single.'
