Girl, 3, dies falling from fifth floor courtyard balcony of California hotel

  • Stephanie Martinez, of Las Vegas, was identified as the victim 
  • She was staying at Embassy Suites in Anaheim with her family 
  • Police were called to the hotel just before 7pm on Sunday and called the incident a 'tragic accident'  

A 3-year-old girl fell to her death from the fifth story of a courtyard walkway at a California hotel on Sunday.

Stephanie Martinez was identified as the victim, according to the Orange County Coroner’s Office,

Police were called to the Embassy Suites in the 3100 block of East Frontera Street in Anaheim just before 7pm.

Martinez was rushed to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries, according to CBS Los Angeles

Anaheim Police spokesman Eric Trapp said the incident appears to be a 'very tragic accident', the Orange County Register reported. 

'Right now officers are with the family,' he said, 'who are obviously mourning.' 

The family had been visiting Anaheim from Las Vegas.
