Morgan Schneiderlin has medical with Manchester United as midfielder edges closer to Southampton exit door

Manchester United are poised to complete a triple £52million transfer swoop with the signing of Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton.

United have moved swiftly following the £13m signing of Matteo Darmian and £14m purchase of Bastian Schweinsteiger by adding £25m-rated France international Schneiderlin as they re-shape their squad ahead of their summer tour to USA.

United's party set off on Monday but were completing medicals for Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger on Sunday night after agreeing terms with Southampton for the former.

United had a bid thought to be around £20m rejected earlier in July by Southampton, although it was dismissed by manager Ronald Koeman as 'not serious'.

Manager Louis van Gaal also remains intent on signing Sergio Ramos too from Real Madrid in the deal that takes David de Gea in the opposite direction.

Ramos has told United he wants to join them but they remain in talks over a fee for both players.

Van Gaal has already added defender Darmian and midfielder Memphis Depay to his squad, while Schweinsteiger has said his goodbyes at Bayern as he prepares to join the Red Devils.

Upon joining, Darmian revealed it was a 'dream come true' to be at Manchester United.

'I have loved the time that I have spent at Torino and I would like to thank the club and the fans for everything they have done for me,' he said.

'But I am sure they can understand when the opportunity to join the biggest club in world came along it was something I had to do.'

While Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed he was not surprised to hear fans voice their anger at the club's decision to sell Schweinsteiger to Manchester United.

'I don't know if they were booing Bayern Munich or just the transfer itself,' he told Bild. 'But I expected this reaction, and was prepared for it. You have to explain something like this sensibly.

'An explanation was owed of the fans, and I think we did a good job, if you saw the reaction of the supporters afterwards.'

Rummenigge said the German champions tried to convince the Germany captain to stay at the Allianz Arena but the 30-year-old felt the need for a new challenge.

'We had a very serious and detailed discussion with Schweinsteiger and we have complied with his request.'

The agent of United goalkeeper Victor Valdes says he is not in talks with Turkish side Antalyaspor but confirmed their interest in the Spaniard.

Gines Carvajal said: 'I’ve been contacted by a series of individuals from Turkey to negotiate a move for Victor. But I haven’t spoken with the president of the Turkish club in question.

Talking to AS, he added: 'I don’t know him. I have no plans to talk with them again as my player has no interest in a move to Antalyaspor.

'His only wishes are to remain at Manchester United and he has another year left on his contract.

'We don’t see any reason for him to leave the club. United are amongst the top two or three best teams in the world.

'Victor is keen to fight for a place next season and wants to help the club as much as he can.'
