Madonna, 56, pays tribute to Gianni Versace as the 18 year anniversary of his brutal murder on the steps of his decadent Miami mansion passes

He was brutally murdered 18 years ago in Miami at the hands of an obsessed fan.

And Madonna has not forgotten the July 15 slaying of her good friend Gianni Versace, one of her favorite fashion designers and a close friend she used to party with in Florida.

On Sunday the 56-year-old pop icon shared a black-and-white photo with the Italian icon to pay tribute to his passing. The Like A Virgin hit maker's caption read, 'Swag...............@Versace. ❤️#rebelhearts.'

Gianni was shot dead on the steps of his Miami mansion at age 50 on July 15, 1997 at the hands of Andrew Cunanan.

The killer used the same gun to commit suicide on a boat eight days later. Versace's body was cremated and his ashes returned to the family's estate near Cernobbio, Italy.

His sister Donatella became the new head designer of the label in September 1997.

But the Papa Don't Preach songbird is not just looking to the past. She is also still trying to revive her singing career.

One week ago Madonna released a a new dance remix of her latest track. The Material Girl posted the Sander Kleinenberg version of her single on Youtube on July 14.

And it of course saw the Material Girl busting moves many teenagers would struggle to imitate.

The latest re-incarnation of B**** I’m Madonna sees the singer again wearing a blue one piece with tiny hotpants.

The star teamed her sultry get up with a pair of fishnets and high heels.

She is also decked out in a pair of leather fingerless gloves in what appears to be one of her favoured colours at the moment – hot pink.

In the new dance remix version Her Madgesty gyrates to the sound of a heavy base beat, twerking and grinding with abandon.

She flings and swishes her dip-dyed fuschia pink tresses around her head as she continuously does the semi splits in a small panelled room.

There are also some dance moves that are reminiscent of stomach crunches and thigh burners as she takes her exercise regime to the dance floor.

Madonna’s short mini dress features images of Marilyn Monroe, and at one point in the clip she can be seen checking out her own booty, giving it a quick squeeze.

She teams it with a oversized trucker cap which has Japanese style graffiti writing on it.

At one point she appears to be doing some moves inspired by a teapot imitation dance.

The singer then gets suggestive with a broom, and grinds her groin into the floor.

She can also be seen doing her own version of the worm in the video.

The clip then cuts to Madonna in a pumping night club, resplendent in a hot pink metal studded leather jacket, teamed with a leopard print tiny dress.

The singer again enlists the help of her A-list friends for the video.

Miley appears her eyes covered in heavy glitter and a slash of red lipstick on her mouth.

Katy Perry wears a vibrant coloured jacket her black hair pulled off her face in a high Japanese style bun.

And Rita Ora again sports her long blonde braids for the clip.

Beyonce is sporting a natural look, and does a Voguing pose as the heavy dance beat plays.

Meanwhile Kanye West is seen screaming at the camera for the track in a split second grab.

Chris Rock also stars mouthing phrases from the song.

Madge has kept the new video a family affair – her son Rocco, 14, sports a street style look, wearing a monochrome old school style Adidas T-shirt and white sports visor.

Her younger son David, nine, also hits the floor busting some breakdancer style moves in a black Adidas tracksuit with a trucker cap emblazoned with the word Bass.

The singer recently responded to critics who suggested her love of street wear and provocative dancing were possibly not age appropriate for a woman in her Fifties.

Madonna told EOnline in an interview in March: 'I am acting my age. This is me, this is how I wanna be. I can do what I want, OK? ... There's no rules, and people should just leave me alone.

'Let me do what I wanna do.'

The singer has utilized social media to push her latest release, and proven that despite young pretenders to her Queen of Pop throne she is not stepping aside any time soon.

B***h I'm Madonna - produced by Diplo - is the third song off Madge's latest studio record Rebel Heart and features rap bars from Minaj.
